I am just saying if it was a rule as stated, it would be exactly how Lane was trying to do it

That is factual

I think Lane wanted to sign a future dated contract with LSU and still coach for Ole Miss.

That wouldn't be possible with this rule, but funny to think about.

Lane would've had to be ok with waiting to actual sign anything with LSU.

even I recognize you can't put a limit on agent commissions.

you can if you have collective bargaining. Agents have caps on pro sports contracts. For instance, the NBA has a 4% cap on agent commissions and the NFL's is 3%

Just incredible. LSU fans prove time and time again to be the absolute dumbest group of people on this message board.

Yes, I think when you start talking about caps, restrictions on pay, and restriction on ability to contract, you unfortunately start delving in the the realm of employment, unionization, and antitrust

..aka the NFL model

I think at this point you fully have to embrace professionalism, it is not ideal but we are too far gone to go bacl to close to anything that once was, so we simply have to organize the chaos that was let out of the bag

Adding “that is factual” after a statement doesn’t automatically make it factual.

This is correct. There were two issues during that saga that caused the conflict(other than the obvious trying to leave for a rival).

1: he wanted to coach through the playoffs.
2: he wanted to start recruiting for LSU as soon as possible because of the recruiting schedule.

ETA: if not for the above conflict, I would have been much more accepting of him coaching out the playoffs.

What are we saving it from? College sports are as popular and lucrative as they've ever been.
