Seminoles should Pull a Trojan

It's understandable Florida State fans are upset that the Seminoles were excluded from the college football playoffs, but there is a remedy. Do what Southern California did after the 2003 season. When LSU and Oklahoma, both of which better records against stronger opponents, were rightfully selected to face off in the title game, USC and Pete Carroll simply said the Trojans' Rose Bowl game would be for the championship and the candy-arse sportswriters happily played along. USC still claims this bogus AP poll as a championship although LSU proved itself the nation's best on the field. Florida State should simply claim the Orange Bowl winner the national champion.

Fla State probably has the toughest opponent in the postseason, so if they can pull it off they can claim they're #1. I honestly expect the playoff finals will be a Texas-Bama rematch, so that would mean nobody else (worth considering) would be undefeated.
Meanwhile, UGA might not be very motivated, having missed their shot at a threepeat, and we might not see supreme effort on their part. We've seen both Bama and UGA lay down in the bowls when they didn't get where they wanted to be (UGA vs Texas, Bama vs Oklahoma and Utah).
I wouldn't put a big bet on UGA just yet. Let's see what happens over the next couple weeks first.

USC was No. 1 in BOTH the AP Poll and Coaches Poll prior to the BCS selection.
It didn't require any special politicking... the AP voters were themselves motivated to keep USC there at No. 1 when they didn't lose.
Coaches might have done the same... but they were contractually obligated to vote for the BCS champion. That was the agreement to have their crystal football trophy be the one on the field after the game.

FSU is currently AP No. 4, Alabama AP No. 5.
I could maybe see that AP Poll order holding if FSU wins and Alabama is CFP champion... but the one extra game helps Bama a lot. Didn't have that in 2003.

Wouldn’t be so sure. The SEC was very down this year.
