She may very well have it right, however, the fact she has a bad past of doing shitty work,

True...but she also has a past of doing damn good work...and the damn good work (A-Rod, Armstrong), is the most recent. Maybe the fact that her most recent work (A-Rod, Armstrong) proved to be so dead on the money...in spite of denials by their apologists...was due to the fact that she learned from her mistakes with the shitty work (Duke) early in her career. For example, in the past she has been criticized for using anonymous sources. This time her sources are all named.

Roberts appears to lack journalistic integrity.

Well, she was a sportswriter for the Auburn Plainsman, so...

The only thing I dont get is, she is already famous for the A-Rod story, why does she need to throw shite against the wall about Auburn to advertise herself?

I guess if she hasnt had anything noteworthy in a while this is a good way to get her name back on ppls lips, or keyboards.

She started investigating after the armed robbery story.

You say you work in news. Then you should know that once a reporter's credibility is impugned (Duke lacrosse) then it is hard to believe that person moving forward.

She also got some other high profile breaking news stories right. Duke lacrosse was a mess, she just broke the story.

Are you asshats not reading all that I post. My only argument is she may be telling the truth and she may not. Let the tapes come forth and prove it ether way. The article is far from being clean and tight.

She quotes Mike M getting paid by Boomer and than a few lines later claims all the allegations occurred under Chizik. When did Muschamp ever work as an assistant under Chizik?

The reputation of the players polled is suspect as best. As are the motives of Roberts to drag her own school through the mud to get some publicity while stretching the truth of some second hand account of events. WDE.

Nice to see AU people changing her wikipedia page already

the only good that tapes will do is keep her from a potential lawsuit. It won't matter for the NCAA. Just look at what became of the players that went on HBO

Do you know why the NCAA didn't do anything?... b/c the four former players (one was suing the university, one received money from HBO, one was turned down for GA position) would not let themselves be interviewed by the NCAA.

Their stories were either flat out lies or greatly exagerated... there's no way it would've stood up against any kind of questioning.

She needs something to write about and she got access to McNeil is my guess. It just seemed rushed and like she did nothing to confirm her sources. Its reeks of laziness and a grab for attention/web hits.

Again, none of that means it isn't true, it just means now a real journalist will have to do the work or, more likely, the new journalism will switch to a guilty until proven innocent insinuation mode and challenge Auburn to defend itself. That way they don't have to do the hard work that generates zero web hits or twitter followers.

True. Auburn fans are quick to point to the earlier piece in her career rather than her more recent work which has been dead on. Hey, it's understandable...if I was an Auburn fan, that's probably what I'd do to. But more recently in her career, she's the one who has gotten the last laugh.

Best answer I have is cheap publicity for her blog.

So you believe the players quotes about Auburn, but don't believe their denials of ever saying that or that she misquoted them?

Doesn't she have tapes?

And reporters cannot quote something that wasn't said... unless they want to get sued.

Who knows - this whole story was always going to be muddled in shite.

auburn fans haven't been the only ones to bring up her.bad work. However, is her poor work not relevant or is only the stuff she got correct relevant to her credibility?

Ok, to all those who say she is now a credible reporter - why is this on her crappy blog site and not the NYT or SI? In fact, other news sources refer to her as a former writer for those publications. ?

And can someone please tell me where AU should even be in this?

"...and the university that once wooed him as one of the nation’s top recruits nowhere to be found."

WTF does it matter if AU is not involved. Kid broke the law. End of story.

Her book alleged a lot about A-Rod that has never been proven and her sourcing was pretty weak in that one too. To say she is vindicated because ARod took steroids is a bit naive.

Was it proven that A-Rod tipped pitches to opposing players, took steroids in high school, etc.?

I mean alleging that a power baseball hitter in that era took steroids and being right isn't evidence of effective journalism.
