Actually, I think his passing accuracy is a bit underrated.

No offense, but so far in his career Fitzgerald has racked up against shitty teams and in SEC play been average at best, to straight up bad against teams with good defenses like Bama, Auburn, LSU, and Georgia.

In 7 games as starter against those 4 top SEC teams I mentioned Fitzgerald has only completed over 50% of his passes twice, and completed under 40% twice as well.
His TD:INT ratio against them is 5:6
Career high passing against them is only 181 and low of 83 yards averaging only 146.2 ypc in those 7 games.

And he didn't care much better on the ground against elite defenses either. Since LSU didn't have an elite rush defense in 2017, in 6 games as starter against 16-17 Auburn, 16-17 Bama, 16 LSU, and 17 UGA, Nicky Fitz averaged only 43 rush ypg (lows of 13 and 15) and never scored any rushing TDs ever.

Anyway, sorry to go off an that tangent but to directly address the question of Fitzgerald's "underrated" "accuracy", maybe I'm biased since both of his games against Auburn have gone so terribly for him with a career completion percentage of 45% against AU.
Last years game was particularly bad for him, so that's still fresh in my memory as well.
13/33 for 39.4%, 157 yards, 1 TD, and 2 INT

Then of course there's rhe final score of both games he's started against Auburn. He's lost by a total of 87-24 in two games

Oh, we've seen it with our own eyes.

The only excuse I'll make for Nick is that Mullen's offense is predicated on an RPO. MSU has not had a receiver who could get any type of separation against good DBs. Look at the UGA and Auburn games last year: both teams locked down man-to-man and left the front 7 to track Fitzgerald,

TL;DR - new WR's should help a lot, we hope

Yea - I like Fitz - but his passing against good teams have been abysmal.

2016 vs FBS Winning Teams
7 games
110/212 (51.9%)
6.0 YPA
182.6 YPG
8 TD / 7 INT
108.38 QB Rating

2017 vs FBS Winning Teams
7 games
97/174 (55.7%)
5.7 YPA
142.6 YPG
9 TD / 6 INT
114.10 QB Rating

our WRs also had some gigantic drops too. he hasn't had much to work with but yes his accuracy needs a little work. So did Dak's and I blame this on Dan Mullen never putting emphasis on the deep ball. Dan is good at teaching them throwing on the run. He doesn't know how to teach a QB to sit in the pocket. Time will tell if Jo Mo will be able to. I think we upgraded in coaching. Dan was stale and his flaws have been exposed. He's a good coach, good recruiter, but he isn't great. We expect greatness. Times are a changing. Mississippi State will win the national championship in 2018

Ill give Fitzgerald that for sure and I've always said that the most impressive thing about him is he has jack shite for help. He's basically been State's entire offense. Y'alls WRs have been pure garbage, arguably (probably) the worst in the SEC, and as far as any run game outside of Fitz, lets just say that despite his improved numbers this past year, defending Aeris Williams scares exactly nobody.

Y'all have had a few individually good to very good OL which helps for sure, but all together as unit they've been middle of the road.

nice. You almost got me with that first line. I like how you can have a sense of humor about yourself, I respect that

I'm not even fat and I readily admit that Nick Fitzgerald is faster than my arse.

Todd has breakaway speed at WR. He just needs to play and learn.

assuming this is the first time he’s running......he’s gonna be a little slow at first.

Wut? Fitz has used Ag for his own personal jizz jar every time they’ve played. That question would be more relevant coming from Barn or Bammer.

I hope he is back and healthy, but that sounds like Jalen Hurts fans last year.

Thompson looks really good, and he will get all of the first team reps in Spring ball. Fitz is going to have his work cut out for him to keep the job.

JoMo will play 2QB at the same time in certain formations. He had sets at Penn State that included both out there at the same time. I could definitely see Fitz breakout into a TE formation. Gonna give DC the shits planning against it. Or they could simply do what OM did and purposely take him out

The game plan coming into the egg bowl for Ole Miss was take Fitz out of the game. I'm sure that's the game plan for most of teams. Fitz was our offense. Ole Miss is dumb as frick and took it as break his leg take him out. Hell, they even swung and miss at Thompson. 1 out of 2 isn't bad.
