Seems Fitzgerald will be back. He's now running again.

Hopefully he used this time to work on his throwing mechanics. If Fitzgerald could improve his accuracy he could be scary good. That's been his big glaring weakness to date (granted his WRs haven't given him as much help as they could)
Damn good news for y'all and for him

Will be interesting to see how much the new staff focuses on that.

That's true. I have no idea about y'alls new offense.
What sort of offense will y'all be running now, and how do you expect it to affect Fitzgerald's numbers on the ground/ effectiveness with his legs?

You would probably want to ask a MS ST fan for a better take, but if I am looking at the past, it will be an amped up version of what they were running with more passing options.
They did sign the top Juco WR, the Top WR in state, a WR from La rated #5... I think they landed about 5 altogether.
I think they were very young too at TE and WR.

Survived a mob hit and is back to playing QB.
This is like a real life Seagal movie.

A lot of the WRs that played last season were young, yes. But that's because of injuries. However, with our recent signees this recruiting cycle, most of those guys won't see the field.

Moorhead’s offense will be similar but I expect it to include more downfield passing and have more of the running game allocated to the running backs. I expect The qb position to produce fewer overall yards but their ypc go up pretty significantly. Obviously that’s based on Moorhead’s past and assumptions Fitz will be healthy and able to pick up Moorhead’s offense. Moorhead is a RPO guy but from what I have read and seen has his qb read the safety a lot of times, not just a defensive end/linebacker, which ultimately leads to more big play opportunities in the passing and running games. If we pick up the mental side of it, I expect the potential for a record breaking year offensively with what we have returning. If we don’t catch on quickly, then it will be scaled back and we should be similar to what we had offensively last year.

We will found out very soon. From what I read, Moorhead is a risk taker. I think Penn State was one of leaders in the country with plays over 30 yds. He takes alot of shots downfield in the air. Moorhead offense is an amped up version of Mullen's offense. That's another reason I think it will be a easy transition. It's not like going from the I to the spread.

Actually, I think his passing accuracy is a bit underrated. It seemed like we dropped a half dozen passes per game last year. Of course you are not going to catch every pass either and he did go through periods of missing receivers as well.
Provided he fully recovers, I think he will be N of 60% on completion rate in 2018.
Definitely pulling for him to have a big year as a Senior.

Should that be the case, then Ms St should compete for the SEC. I know the defense will be a beast!

take Dan Mullen's offense. throw it in the garbage. Watch a 2017 penn state game. take notes on the offense. Viola.
They are similar, but Jo Mo isn't afraid to take risks by throwing deep. Mullen rarely did it even though he had some WRs that are 6'5. Good teams take advantage of this flaw. they begin to creep up and only leave one safety deep essentially rendering any numbers advantage a running QB has moot.

Really hope things work out for him. Seems like a great kid.
State will be interesting as hell this year.

Gained a ton of respect of him after he came back on the field on crutches and rooted for his team.

Fitz and Key are both smart QBs. Both will pick up quickly. Key had 147 yards on the ground and 3 rushing TDs in the TaxSlayer Bowl. He looked better than the Heisman winner on the other team (+ MSU D is good).
Think we will still use the QB run to keep the Defense off balance and having to consider the threat.

It is still basically a read-option, but Moorhead has a pass option when the QB keeps it on the read option. On several plays, the running back actually has a pass option when he is given the ball. If you ignore the slot or tight end to support the run, the offense is designed to burn you.
On the passing front, Moorhead likes to "flood the zone", which means that the QB has a number of reads in the same section of the field. One person generally heads deep. There are intermediate routes beneath that and a curl, and if too many people run with the receivers, the QB is encouraged to take off and run because the defense has left a huge gap.
