There is no deterrent for this, you think drunk college kids are thinking things through? It doesn’t happen often but it does happen and every single sec student section is capable of something like this. Let’s be real.

Was the game delayed twenty minutes due to excessive bullshite? No.

This is just another talking point for the "no alcohol at games" crowd. Punish the retards who threw shite the best you can and move on.

Tens of thousands in fines, restitution and court costs would deter any other moron from ruining it for the rest of us.

Nothing those kids did would constitute more than a disorderly conduct charge under TN code. That's a class C misdemeanor. Class C misdemeanors have a max fine of $50. That's not much of a deterrent, if any. Those cases would also be pled out day 1 in court, so court costs would also be nominal. Knoxville Judges can't go beyond their judicial authority to "send a message"

For reference:
quote:

39-17-305. Disorderly conduct.

(a) A person commits an offense who, in a public place and with intent to cause public annoyance or alarm:

(1) Engages in fighting or in violent or threatening behavior;

(2) Refuses to obey an official order to disperse issued to maintain public safety in dangerous proximity to a fire, hazard or other emergency; or

(3) Creates a hazardous or physically offensive condition by any act that serves no legitimate purpose.

(b) A person also violates this section who makes unreasonable noise that prevents others from carrying on lawful activities.

(c) A violation of this section is a Class C misdemeanor.

I mean this isn't the first nor will it be the last time something like this happens, but it also isn't going to happen all the time either.

this shite happens almost every year in football or basketball. You also see it in the pros.

I'm surprised by the 'uproar' this one got. I know it was in primetime but still. Night game, rowdy, drunk southern football fans. No one got hurt, it was a good time, game to remember. Let's move on

I do not like this crowd. Plus, I've only had time to get no more than two $15 beers at the game anyways. No one is getting drunk at the game. Everyone who is drunk at the game was drunk before they came in the gates.

The university could also go after restitution for fines, no?

If not, add penalties to them so they can.

don't they stop selling alcohol by the 4th quarter anyways? The people getting sloshed and acting like that (the students) are largely under 21 and sneaking liquor into the games regardless.

Punish the idiots by going after them legally and make them pay the restitution. No sense in going after all vol fans.

The financial penalties for the morons would be a deterrent against any other idiotic actions. IMO

No, they could just send those kids to the student judiciary board and punish them via suspension, probation, etc. What's the restitution? There were no "damages" outside the fine from the league, but if they go down that road, it opens a huge can of worms for fines when fans rush the field.

UK got fined $250,000 for celebrating a win over Florida by going on the field AFTER the game. This does not seem to equate.

Again, throw 15 yards penalty flags one every two minutes until it stops. After 3 flags thrown, call the game a forfeit. Until the idiots see their team suffer the consequences, they won't think about getting caught.

How about also identifying the fans who hit their fellow UT fans? How do you know an object thrown hit the field? There are weasel words here.

Not all the idiots were students tho. And yes, they should go after them. Rushing the field is one thing, delaying the damn game for 20 minutes is another.

I drink at the tailgate not the game itself for football
I will be pissed if they take it away from the baseball games - that's where I like to drink a few while watching the game

Yeah man. The stadium was ROWDY. It made for a fun game. Town was cool too. Schulz Brau has some delicious beer and Lonesome Dove and Oliver Royale were great as well.

Yeah that showing made me nostalgic as frick for when Neyland was a damn hornet’s nest every single week. It’s why I lol at some of the dummies on here who shite all over Neyland and this fanbase. Give these people the slightest ray of hope and they will fricking bring it. They deserve so much better than the clown show they’ve been fed for the last decade. Also those are some ELITE spots you hit.

quote:

An older (late 50s) Reb and younger VOL (late 30s) sitting about three rows behind us engaged in fisticuffs during the delay. Reb got whooped. I heard the Reb say Heinz mustard is superior to French's and I think that's what set the VOL off. That last part isn't true, but it is true that the Reb took an arse whoopin.

As great as this fan base is, VOLS have more than their share of reds too. How embarrassing fighting at a fricking football game

So alcohol, not that abortion of an officiating crew that now decided the out of 3 games this year, is responsible for this?

The SEC offices can get bent.

If they had called a forfeit, that would have made the situation worse if I'm being honest.
