Pete is the answer and it's not even a homer answer.
Just incredible. It's fairly easy.

Goodness those highlights. That man could pass, dribble, and shoot. He is so freaking smooth. You can immediately see there is something special about him. Can only imagine the numbers he puts up in college with a three point line.
I believe someone commented that his final NBA season they added it and he shot like 66% of three pointers? Would need someone to verify.

Thought he had the Michael Douglas problem of eating too many bad clams.

Pistol Pete right? I mean who cared about SEC basketball outside of UK until Pete came along and LSU games started getting broadcast on the national stage amirite?

Pistol Pete was a great player and ahead of his time. But, he DID average like 38 shots a game. His shooting percentage was pretty average. It was his ball handling and passing that were ahead of its time.

Pete Maravich or Bernard King
Ralph Beard would have been my top choice if not for the point shaving scandal. His accolades in college were really second to none.
Dan Issel was a great college player.

He shot 44%, pretty good for a guy who took a lot of jumpers but had no added benefit of the 3 point line which would have made his points per shot look pretty dang good, would have been over 50pts/gm. Dale Brown says 57 points a game when he charted all his shots but that seems impossible to go up from 44 to 57 just adding the extra point from 3 pointers he was taking.
Not like he was a Marshall Hendo jacking it up at there at 37%.
