Flipping the series lead on Aubarn and UTk has been very nice.

Wrong (again).

Vols were always in contention back in the Shuler and Peyton days. This board has no clue because half of them weren't even born yet. Gen Z trash.
Spurrier and Florida happened to be really good then and in our same division. I would much rather have to play these current UGA squads than a peak Spurrier UF team. Those Spurrier teams still give me PTSD at times and started the curse against us.
In the 90s, Tennessee, Florida, FSU and Nebraska ruled CFB. And they were all really good more years than not. Miami and Michigan had some decent years as well.

Why? The difference then was coaching, the difference now is coaching and talent.

Please, Spurrier had plenty of talent and had top 5 recruiting classes.

I was speaking relatively, but tbh I don't buy into that notion that today's guys are better.
They might be better athletes on paper, but the players in the 90s were way tougher and more full grown acting for their age compared to the newer generation. Anyone who grew up with a smart phone in hand is weaker mentally by default.
Also, the way defense is played and taught nowadays is just completely different than before. It's watered down more every year.

Those Spurrier offenses were very intimidating back then. No one had ever seen anything like it and they had plenty of NFL talent in an elite at the time offensive scheme and system.

Thank you for the interest in our program

There was a reason that the 90s were so frustrating for UGA fans. Ray Goff. UGAs then president ran off Erk Russell and another about to be announced hire. Then he went totally brain dead and picked Goff. I like Ray Goff. He is a DGD but he was not qualified to lead a program like Georgia. And for 7 long years we paid for that bad hire.

Thank you for that very useful information. The slight problem is that you don't just get to cancel the history of college football because it fits your narrative. Tennessee is still far ahead of LSU, Auburn and Florida in total wins and a bunch of other parameters. What most of you guys fail to understand is it all goes in cycles. We're on an up cycle, so all these words and stats are moot, and it's a good thing you're wasting your time getting these points out before they fade away into eternal Akashic record of meaningless sports drivel.

Cocksuckers that are more worried about Tennessee than their own schools.

UGA had a bit of a period without a natty IIRC, and had been at 79 years with only one natty. Was UGA coasting on the 40s and 80s up until a couple years ago?
My two cents...
I think you could reasonably argue that 90s UGA was living in the "good ole days" of Herschel & Vince Dooley.
That went out the window in 2002 when Mark Richt went 13-1 with an SEC Championship. I would call that team a better version of the 2022 Vols, the team that "revived" a down program. Coach Richt then rattled off another championship in 2005, a #2 finish in 2007, and a 12-2 2012 squad. He also had 10+ wins in 6/7 years from 2002-2008.
Right now Heupel has a long way to go just to get to 2000s UGA.

Florida and Alabama own Knoxville.

My bad. You are right. Jones only lost 6 games in 2017, then was fired. Brady Hoke lost the other 2 that season. I stand corrected. No Tennessee coach has ever lost 8 games in a single season. Thank you.

They both lost the last time they played there.

So I wouldn't consider that "sniffing" a NC.
If they beat LSU they're in the Rose Bowl playing for a nattie.
So yeah, that is 'sniffing' a NC.

They are a mid tier program now.
Thank goodness you're a lower tier program, so it'll make sense when Heupel runs off ten straight against your pathetic has-been azzes

Georgia has a share in the ownership of Knoxville too. Their stadium could be called Sanford North. Not that we would actually want to claim that rusty old hulk.

Exactly right. Their best years were back in the white bread days pre integration
