It proves the point that playing UGA and LSU was no big deal in the nineties. I also gave you the teams you lost to that prevented you from joining the party. Not exactly a who's who of college football fame.

Auburn went 20-1-1 in 1993 and 1994, with no chance at going to a bowl either season. That was despite playing Alabama and Florida both years.

If you want to penalize us for tying UGA and losing one game in 2 seasons to Bama on a questionable 4th down spot, have at it.

Since 1992 Auburn has had the second hardest schedule in the SEC. Georgia? the second easiest. There are more to the numbers than just the wins and losses. Since 1992 Auburn has played Vanderbilt / Kentucky 15 times. Georgia has played them 42 times.LINK

Should note that prior to 2006, everyone was on 11 game schedules, making 10+ wins back then way more impressive than 10+ wins from 2006 on.

When everyone went to 12 games in 2006, most SEC teams just basically tacked on an extra cupcake OOC

This is an obvious troll, but UGA fans know that 10-win seasons from perpetually easy schedules aren’t something to brag about.

They fired Richt after he won 10+ games 9 out of his 15 seasons.

Yikes.

(I don’t think UGA fans were sad to see him go either.)

What you linked to uses opponent’s winning percentage to determine strength. Probably as good of a barometer as any, but it does skew numbers somewhat when some of those top teams obviously can’t play themselves and so anyone they play has a lower winning percentage and, thus, it lowers their overall strength of schedule.

Teams slightly below you on that chart with worse recruiting bases managed to do it (Arkansas), another with similar prestige and recruiting did it multiple times (LSU). Another with little prestige and hardly any luck before the turn of the century managed to do it 3 years in a row.

AU had 7 permanent annual SEC opponents from 1992 to 1999. Only LSU finished below .500 during that stretch - and they had two 9+ win seasons in those 8 years.

In contrast, of UGa's 7 permanent opponents, three of them - South Carolina, Kentucky and Vandy - had worse overall records than LSU did. Between those three schools, they had 6 seasons in which they won 2 or fewer games.

It's embarrassing to admit that AU has failed to string together successful seasons over our history, but lets not pretend that the relative strength of our opponents has little to do with it.

Arkansas , USCe and Missouri being on the list and not Auburn is shocking. Those 3 prove that the smaller schools can do good if they have a great coach .

Sumlin , Freeze and Mullen were one win away from making the list .

Auburn is the only team ever, ever, in college football history to ever have a history where you go winless in conference and play for the damn national title the next year.
Normally you will knock on the door, then win the conference. They can be a 3-9 team and turn that into 11-0. It ALL, it ALL depends on if games are at JHS. That can totally turn a 5 win season for them into an 11 win season

There is not a greater home field advantage in football at any level than theirs.

And the Iowa bowl snafu on the last play from scimmage cost him as well for the 2004 season.

That was 100% his fault. Our players were completely out of position pre-snap, Saban had a time out to burn, and didn't use it. It also didn't help that he announced a week prior he was leaving. None of those players wanted to play for him that day. he should jhave either waited until after the game to make the announcement and/or not coached that game.

The injuries in 2002 didn't help him

Matt Mauck getting injured was also 100% his fault. He never should have been playing up 36-7 in the 4th quarter. And even if he was playing, he shouldn't be running QB draw plays.

But yes, that team was #6 in the country before Matt Mauck went down for the season and still only lost the West on a hail mary at Arkansas.

USF? They lost 4 games that year. Did I misunderstand you?

He isn't penalizing. And I honestly don't believe his intent is to troll you. He said back to back 10 win seasons. if you did not win 10 games it isn't because he is "penalizing" you for tying a game. It's because you did not win 10 games.

And Auburn gave their coach a $49 million extension after averaging 5 losses a year the last 4 years.

Yikes.

(And it appears as if they are happy about it.)

The level of football the SEC East has been playing since Urban left has been a disgrace. 1980-2009 Tennessee, Florida or UGA were elite of close to it. 2010-2016 was an embarrassment, UGA is bringing up the load and I think UT will be right behind in a few years, UF has a major rebuild looming and I don't think they have even started
