You just made my point.

Is Indiana a Top 10 team?

No, but why?

Because they've played no one except OSU who promptly bent them over and went in dry.

Is Indiana a better team than LSU? Better than Ole Miss? Better than SC? Better than Mizzou? Better than Vandy even?

Heck no, but guess what, they're ranked higher thus proving you're "ranked teams" metric really doesn't work.

Now if we really wanna have a football discussion where we compare SEC teams .... we'd do it by a SOS metric combined with the W-L, Home vs Away, etc. Would probably make for a damn decent Venn Diagram.

The whole purpose of this thread is based on Texas fans trying to excuse the fact they haven't beaten a ranked teams by claiming that the fact they haven't lost to an unranked team matters more. It's meant to show that even with that thought, Texas is still in a tie for 4th place with Mizzou among SEC teams.

The main thing it's shown is that this year Texas has done the same as Mizzou has... just against a weaker schedule which resulted in fewer losses.

Both are winless against the top 25.
Both are undefeated against unranked teams.
Both beat Vandy by 3.

As the meme goes:

We are the only team that plays 3 rivalry games this year

UGA plays 3 rivalry games every season…..Auburn, Florida and Georgia Tech. Also played Clemson this year which is a traditional rivalry for UGA. Tennessee has turned into one with conference expansion as well. That’s 5 pretty heated rivalry games not to mention Alabama. UGA and Bama are not traditional rivals but given recent history the games between the 2 have had serious natty ramifications…. the game this year, when it was played, was thought by most to have the same kind of ramifications as the last 4-5 have had. If Texas stays in the SEC 50 years I suspect that in addition to OU, ATM and Arkansas Alabama, UGA, possibly LSU and Tennessee may become semi annual rivalries for Texas. This ain’t the Big12 or SWC…. there are 5-6 big time programs not counting OU and Texas, not 1 big time program like the big 12 or SWC was.

this is not as simple as you’ve listed. What about when you played? Who was injured and who was not? Are teams the same? Where was the game?
Winning and losing games never comes down to a single play but could come down losing a single player or players.

Is it fair to say that Texas is just Mizzou with an easier schedule?

That, or Florida with an easier schedule.

When I say rivalry I'm talking about if that team beats you it makes their season because they absolutely hate you OR you are their main rival they care about.

You are not Auburns main rival and I doubt Florida would say you are their main rival either. GT would probably call you thwie main rival.

Ask Arkansas and ATM they hate Texas and beating Texas is their super bowl. OU is our main rival due to program respect and the past decade pluse without ATM.

I agree there are solid matchups with many teams you play but I disagree Georgia has that many teams that consider them their main rival.

No, Florida is ahead of Texas. Florida actually beat a ranked team. Texas hasn't done that.

So by your logic a team could go 1-11, beat a #25 above average team and be a better team than a 11-1 team who once they beat teams knocked them out of the top 25 but also won every other game?

There is so many variables and to just use one metric (top 25 wins) is silly without looking at the total body of work (sos, margin of victory, offense, defense, special teams, health of team, etc)

His logic isn’t very good. He tried arguing that Texas has a slow offensive and defensive line based strictly off the number of sacks they’ve gotten /given up.

While we’re here, Texas has beaten more bowl eligible P4 teams (5) than Georgia has (4).

Indiana doesn't have a similar talented roster like the blue blood teams have. That is how teams should be judged. If Indiana had beaten OSU then they would be worthy.

Remember when you thought UGA should be ranked higher than Texas?

The fact that these teams have a combined 10 losses is insane.

And Texas has played one ranked team all year
