Wonder why they didn't decline the penalty?

Basically the officials on the field fricked and should not have blown the whistle until the backward pass was recovered aka they did not realize the it was a backward pass.
In the review of the replay they didn't want override the decision of the replay officials creating further controversy so Auburn once again benefits from a fluke play.

The review had to show the ball clearly was thrown backward

Which it didn’t and why this subject should die.

Good luck Arkansas, I really like Pittman and think he was the perfect hire.

They tried to decline the 10 second run off, but the officials messed that up too. Really, the replay official is the only one who got it right, but unfortunately for Arky that actually hurt them.

The fricking refs told him he couldn't.

Pure bullshite, top to bottom. They fricked up a call that would have given us a game and didn't allow us to decline a penalty that would have given us at least one more shot to get into field goal range.

Totally took the game from us. The whole thing is outrageous.

So in summary, since it was a fumble, it would have helped Arkansas's cause a lot if they had recovered it

Auburn lucked up and won the 2010 NC because the opposing team thought a play was over. Too bad for Oregon SEC officials weren't calling that game.

So we won but since it’s Alabama or Auburn and they are in the SEC’s backyard nothing will be done.

Asterisk game.

What do you want them to do?

IMO the replay official didn't get it right either. The fact they called a penalty for intentional grounding was flat out wrong.

I seriously wonder how they would have handled they play had there been less than 10 sec left on the clock. Were they going to "up hold" the incorrect ruling of intentional grounding and end the game on a 10 sec run off? I don't think so.

I get the officials messed up and blew the whistle too soon. Weird play, it happens. The ensuing review and cluster from that point is what I'm most pissed about.

They called it intentional grounding after the replay. This BS excuse is just that, it's not what replay discussed with the official and told him to call. They knew they f'd up, they knew Aubby had lost and they decided to come up with an excuse later. Its that damn simple. They did not call it a backward pass, they did not call it an inadvertent whistle they called it intentional grounding.
