1936 I believe.

Then you can probably add many more for Kentucky if you are going for MNC type titles over NCAA tournament ones.

Nice try tho but do the Tigers need to pad when they have had real success in other sports. You guys are better than that.

Yea 1936 was a while ago. But LSU has had a very great basketball program over the years. A few of the all time greats played here, and we've had a few final 4 teams.

Alabama dominates the only sport that matters. Therefore, Alabama is the best.

I agree, but that makes them good but not great the way they have been in other sports. No championship hardware even tho I am a huge Dale Brown fan. The bigger point was the Tigers had lots of hardware in other sports to be reaching the way lesser teams do on basketball.

The thread title was Superiority and do not think of LSU basketball in that same light. If you do not draw the line somewhere the Hog fans will bring up tiddlywinks and motorcycle riding as thinks they are superior at.

Does Florida being relatively good at 2 sports mean more than Alabama being God's of the football world?

Relatively good compared to who exactly? Since 2006 UF has 2 National Titles and 2 other BCS bowl appearances in football along with 2 national titles and 3 more Elite Eights in basketball. Not to mention 2 SEC championships and 3 CWS appearances in baseball.

No LSU fan is trying to say we have a great basketball program, though we hope CJJ becomes the 4th coach to take us to a Final Four. I don't know why they claim 1936, but they do. It's not like we claim any little thing. We could claim a few more titles in football if so. Most specifically 1908.
In the OP is asked for best all around sports team. I listed UF 1st, but put LSU 2nd. We also are the only team with 10+ SEC titles in the big 3. Only UK has more SEC titles than LSU in basketball(granted UF and Arky have won the FF).

There is not one overall program. Alabama clearly has football, baseball has been all USCe lately and basketball is Kentucky and Florida. If I had to pick one overall I would say the most rounded recently has been Florida with good success in hoops, Omaha and a BCS bowl. Lets get real though, the only sport that truely matters is football and nobody has come close to what Bama is doing right now.

+1
I didn't say we have a great basketball program RIGHT NOWWWWWW (but look out in the next 2-3 years !!)........But we do have SOME history, having won the 2nd most SEC titles behind UK, been to 20 tourneys, 4 Final Fours, and the producer of Pistol Pete and Shaq. And yes we DID win a national title in 1935 in New York, though it was 'mythical.'
I agree Florida is #1 in the SEC right now OVERALL.
Bama, Georgia, A&M, LSU, Florida and USCe are the best in football right now.
Vandy, USCe, LSU, Miss.State, Ole Miss, Fla. Kentucky are the best in baseball.
Florida, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Vandy, and LSU in basketball.
Texas A&M, Arkansas, LSU and Tennessee in track and field. (Men's and Women's)
Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Florida in Gymnastics.
Alabama, LSU, etc. in Softball.
Tennessee, LSU, etc. in Women's basketball.

I know I am forgetting someone....
