The f-up was that the ref wasn't watching close enough to realize the 'spike' was actually a backwards pass, hence blowing the whistle. Another inept official. Nothing has changed.

Let's have the replay official's name.

I just watched the replay again. It does seem like Auburn players stopped playing before the fumble was recovered. They were casual until the Arky defender broke through to go after it because he realized it was a backwards pass, but they had already blown a whistle before he got the ball.

So you’re in here arguing about something that you don’t even know how it played out?

A ref should relish in the opportunity to make that call. Instead he completely fricked it up. He shouldn’t be reffing SEC games.

No.

You understand that before the recovery, two other players dove for the ball first, it squirted away and hit the refs foot, right?

Regardless, the qb turned around and threw the ball backwards...SEC refs should know that is a live ball and not blow the damn whistle.

At the very least Auburn should have lost 8 yards instead of one yard and taking time off the clock favored Auburn.

The rules state that it doesn't matter how long it takes to recover, regardless of the whistle.

Just make shite up as you go along.

Can't argue against that.

The rule doesn't state that at all. Requires it to be recovered in the immediate football action after the whistle.

Lmao that's exactly what happened. We recovered the football "in the immediate football action after the whistle"

The two other players includes the guy who did recover it.

No he didn't. He recovered it after 2 others tried to recover it and knocked it away.

The refs clearly fricked up originally, but no way to know what would have happened if the whistles never blew. Its not AU's fault they won, still had to make the kick. Suck for Arkansas, they played a hell of a game. I would be pumped if I were an Arkansas fan realizing I finally have a legit staff.

Ya'll got hosed that's true. The refs absolutely did screw Arky by blowing the whistle prematurely. But since the whistle had blown, it is technically the correct call. ,

you are right. He tried to recover it, failed, knocked it away and then went and recovered it on a second attempt.

The whistle wasn't called prematurely though. The ref near the ball literally stared at it then waved his arms as the players were diving on it.
