You should post the other half of that stat pack that they had in their tweet. That one was pretty crazy to see too.

Removing the bama game, Bamas P5 opponents average giving up 26.6 points per game

Bama averages scoring 26.7 pts more than that average

Removing the lsu game, LSUs P5 opponents average giving up 17.7 points per game

LSU averages scoring 11.3 pts more than that average

Both offenses are outscoring the average by a healthy margin, with bama being very high

Just some context

A chart to go with my earlier post

So, while Bamas numbers are impressive, if LSU and Bama swapped P5 schedules and kept their averages up:

LSU would be averaging 37 pts per game and Bama 44 pts per game

Context is key my friends

Alabama has scored 67 more points in the first half (310) than LSU has scored all season (243).
LSU has played a more relevant defense in 1 game than Bama has combined all year.

I'm not sure Georgia's offense has a single player that would start for Alabama's offense. Someone taking our LG spot is probably it.

How did Bama do against those defenses?

Is there a way to factor in Tua playing the whole game

Well, nobody has explained how LSU’s offense is going to score points and move the ball against Alabama’s defense. Bama has played better offenses and they’ve shut them all down.

I'm not saying we will, but honestly, we could shut LSU out.

Look at these statlines:

Joe Burrow: 53.8% completion percentage, only 6 TDs on 223 attempts (that means Burrow throws a TD once every 37 passes, Tua throws a TD once every 6 passes), 3 INTs, a laughable 6.9 Yards Per Attempt, and an embarrassing Passer Rating of 118.16. Tua's passer rating is more than double Burrow's. Burrow ranks 99th in the nation in passer rating.

Their two backs Brosette and Edwards? Neither averages 5 yards per carry.

Anything can happen, so I'm not saying LSU can't show up, play out of their minds, and score big. Plus turnovers and special teams could be a factor. But on paper this shouldn't be close in terms of what each offense is capable of.

Interesting, because Miami's scoring defense ranks 17th in the nation at 18.1 PPG, whereas A&M's ranks 29th at 20.6 PPG. Are we really saying a 2.5 PPG difference is that big? Especially considering, y'know, A&M had to play Alabama?

One notable statistic missing: Alabama played 8 FBS opponets, 7 of them ranked 63rd or WORSE in Total Defense and 89th or WORSE in Scoring Defense.

Edit: fixed typo, was 89th in scoring defense, not 8th. Stupid autocorrect.

LSU is averaging scoring 11.3 pts more per game than their P5 opponents average

So if that holds true we would score 27 pts vs bama

Out of curiosity, where would they rank if you remove the Alabama game from their stats?

Bama hasn't played those teams yet. Bama plays LSU, Mississippi State and Auburn in November and might play Florida in December, if Florida wins the SEC East. But thanks for asking.

Your P5 opponents are still averaging 26.67 pts per game with your game removed

That would have them ranked 69th collectively in scoring defense

On the other hand, LSUs P5 opponents are averaging 17.7 points per game with our game removed

That would have them ranked 17th collectively in scoring defense
