So you mean the 3 best public schools in the conference belong to the three highest populated states in SEC territory, thus not needing to seek out of state students to fill classrooms?
Shocking.

"The University of Mississippi" being 50% kids from Mississippi is crazy to me
Alabama is less than 50%. I was originally against it, but I think the influx of kids from around the country has been good for the school and the region. Some things that have been the status quo for decades just because "they are what they are" have been flipped upside down because of the diversity of campus the last decade. And, some of those kids stay behind and continue to add diversity to the state.
Every state is different, though.

Those out of state kids at OM and 'Bama are there to teach local students how to read.

I understand why they do it and if I hadn't gone to A&M I think I would have rather gone out of state than somewhere like Tech. It's just odd to see and think about for a public school (Vandy's numbers aren't surprising at all).

I'd imagine the 10% rule in Texas makes it more difficult for any out of state student to attend a public university in the state of Texas.
I'd imagine that the administrators of these universities hate the rule.

Same with HOPE in Georgia. The state doesn't need to rely on non-Georgians too much bc of Zell Miller. The out of state representatives is pretty spot on though... The majority of out of (southern) state cars you see in Athens are North Carolina, Virginia, Texas, Florida and Tennessee.

data must be just undergrad. i knew several from OOS that went to A&M for veterinary school.

The 10% rule mostly affects TAMU and tu, probably tu more than TAMU because of their capped enrollment. And it is damn near impossible for high school students in Texas to get into either if they aren't in the top quarter of their class. Being in the top 10% guarantees admission.
This is why a lot of kids in Texas go to Arkansas, LSU, OU, OM, Alabama, etc.

HOPE is a pretty sweet deal. I hope Georgians appreciate this fact.

Yes (except for 1 or 2 schools that only had it in aggregate form, can't remember which).
Graduate school is a totally different ballgame.

It's exactly spot on. It's from the UGA Enrollment Report from Spring 2016

Missouri
1. Missouri (66.0%)
2. Out of State/Country (34.0%)
An educated guess would be 20% of Other from Chicago. 10% from Dallas/Texas. 3% kansas (kansas city, kansas mostly), and 1% everywhere else.

Except when you have to pay it for your kids one day

I'm actually surprised Alabama has more OOS kids than Ole Miss. It seems like OM is king of pulling kids from Texas aside from the traditional feeders (OU Arkansas LSU)
