If Bax is right, Arkansas is #2.

If not, then we're not in the conversation. You have to have at least two solid aces to make it through the postseason.

Florida
LSU
UK
Ole Miss
Arky
USCe

If we didn't have a pitching staff that was, outside of one lefty JUCO transfer, all freshman, I'd move us up to 2. However, Ellis, Greenwood, and Bailey are all pretty solid thus far.

Wahl is arguably a top 3 SEC pitcher, Hively has been unreal, and Mayers is a good Sunday guy who can give you a good chance to win.

Then, we have the best second basemen in college baseball (Yarb), and three other guys who can hit for power (Snyder, Kirksey, and Allen), and I think if we're given just a bit of luck we have a shot to get to Omaha this year.

The potential really showed up this weekend.

For us to have a chance we need out starters to go 6+ almost every game. Ellis, Chavez and Huber have all blown games and Smith and Greenwood are nothing more than 1 time through the order relievers. Our Starters and bats are going to have to get us to Omaha because our bull pen is our biggest question mark.

Just remember guys....WAOM.

I thought for a second about an hour ago that the Sports Gods caught up with us when I saw "Derrick Nix" trending on twitter. Headlines were "Derrick Nix arrested for Possession." I went until I realized they're talking about a Michigan State basketball player.

We had a close call there fellas. We can mark that up as a case of mistaken identity by the Sports Gods.....but we have to be careful.

4. LSU- Good team. Just started what looks like a hot streak will flame out either late in a regional or in a super regional.

Don't see that happening. Last year we won our final 14 out of 15 or something like that - robbed of a Regional appearance.
This team remembers that - an LSU flame out late is a pipe dream for the rest of the SEC, especially with this pitching staff.......

If Maloof wasn't out for the year, I'd say UGA should be in the top 6 because he's a lights out closer. Our defense, however, is fricking terrible and will probably be the reason we don't make it to a regional.

You laugh, because we aren't playing well right now, but I would not count us out when it comes time. We will hit out stride and peak at the right time, just like 2010. 2011, we were expected to win.

Only 4/6 you list have been to Omaha since 1990.

Arkansas had a bad weekend. Still a very good team. Baxendale isn't going to suck forever. I'd rather him suck now than in regional and super regional play, like Ole Miss does every year.

Actually I was thinking more like Alabama will be given a pass into the National Championship Series because they are Alabama.

East Contenders
Florida - still has more talent than anyone in the country both on the mound and at the plate, still have best odds to win it and should.

USC - Not enough behind Roth and Price and too many holes in lineup but Walker is as good as it gets. They may not get benefit of hosting which will hurt.

UK - I still think they're playing a little over their heads right now and will start to come back to the pack a little, that non conference schedule was pretty bad. All in all, probably a Super Regional team.

UGA - hard to figure them out, they have some stud pitchers but too up and down to have much of a chance

West contenders:
Arkansas - I think Hogs can make a run to Omaha and if things bounce right could surprise once there, Stanek is the real deal but Baxendale needs to shake out of his slump, Stanek might need to go on Fri because if he can get that Fri win it makes it so much easier the rest of the weekend, the middle of their lineup is really good to with Carver, Ficocello, Bleeker, and Reynolds, closest to Fla in the SEC

LSU - will go as far as offense can take them, to get to Omaha a lot will depend on their regional matchups and if they can win enough to play at home. If LSU is fortunate enough to make Omaha, the pitching at CWS will make for a pretty quick exit, only thing LSU has going for it is some veteran guys that know what it takes.

Ole Miss - until they actually make it to Omaha I'll refrain from commenting, nice series win against Fla but you have to execute at crunch time and Bianco has not done it

Auburn - bullpen is a strength but they may be another year away

Funny how you're such a polyanna when the tables have turned but you get a raging boner whenever Bundy or someone else says something positive about State.

I think we may be pretty good this year, but nothing I have seen this year in terms of consistency makes me think we can make it to Omaha.
