It's hilarious for a Mizzou fan to post that as well, their entire university would've been up shite creek (heh) after that incident without Kroenke (who still moved the Rams from that SJW armpit)

Why do colleges need to sit on that much money?

I always wonder about this as well. I think the university P&L has gotten incredibly bloated over the years and the endowment is the sinking fund that will carry the schools through the inevitable recessions and dry spells.

Higher education, along with health insurance, is just a black hole for the average person's personal income.

You have no clue what endowments are and actually do I bet! If you did you would know that endowments have nothing to do with spending by the university

?????? Of course the endowment influences university spending. The income of the endowment influences all sorts of university decisions.

The thing is LSU isn't poor. Money that is allocated to go to LSU is stolen yearly to keep the other four year universities afloat. LA has just as many four year universities as FL.

Well, his numbers are bs (LSU system endowment is ~ $886 million) but I agree we have too many universities

If by "as many" you meant to say "20% as many" then you nailed it

You would do better to list each colleges endowment for their campus location. Bama has a big chunk at UAB. UAT is not bad, but would qualify as one of your poors. Aggies is significantly larger than Texas which surprises me.

UA's portion of the UA system's endowment was $885.7 million in September 2015 according to the 2018 Financial Report from UA. I know that Arkansas, UT systems, at least, have multiple campuses as well, so UA is probably more like closer to the middle, but on the rich side of the middle.

Where does this number come from?

I understand that's the number cited on Wikipedia, but other sources have LSU with an $850 million endowment.

If the SJWs hit their ultimate goal, the money will be spread evenly across all schools. Socialism at its finest.

Arkansas never lists a system endowment. It is always separated by school -- even the law and medical schools.

Not sure what year this is from, but it shows the Fayetteville campus at over $1B, without including the law or medical school.

Close. It started after Robert Gates left to become Secretary of Defense.

Yeah, I knew UAB had a big chunk of the UA amount. UAB is a bigger deal than some school like Arky-Pine Bluff or Auburn-Montgomery.

If COVID has shown nothing else, it has shown that instruction can be done mostly via computer, negating the need for a whole lot of costly infrastructure on campuses.
