ncaa football generates money hand over fist, I have no clue why they dont' just hire full time officials. It makes zero sense to have mega-important games decided by a guy that's a lawyer or insurance salesman 5 days a week come ref for the weekend.
They need to just hire refs full-time and that's their only job. January - August can be spent at in-service trainings, conferences, seminars, reffing scrimmages, etc. Anythign possible to get better at their job. September - December would be used just like the coaches. Do the game saturday, film study all day Sunday, then practice and review and study through the week.

But was he?
I don't know the man, but if his wife and their whole family were bama fans that should be plenty enough reason to not have him work that game. He could be as pure as the driven snow for all I know, but he could also think "if I make a call a certain way my wife sure will be happy!". Nobody knows.

Is an entire family supposed to stop supporting their favorite team just because their son in law is a ref?
No. He shouldn't be reffing anyway.

This doesn't make any sense to me.
You truly don't see why it's an issue that a man with direct, proven, clearly visible ties to one of the schools in the NCG was assigned to work that game? Out of the thousands of NCAA referees in america they couldn't have picked literally anyone else? And I say this for both sides, someone with clear ties to UGA should have no business working the game either.

Google is really helpful in conspiracy theories

Are you new here? Everyone knows Alabama controls every game in the SEC! There's a meeting in the SEC Office every Monday at 4:44 AM to decide the outcomes of the weeks games.

Alabama is king. What are y’all gonna do about it? Nothing. Y’all are nothing.

Not in this case. His wife and her family are fans of a football team. That doesn't qualify as "ties". Here's the better question, what reasonable possibility exists where anyone at Bama could have had an influence his officiating?

8 by Bama
13 by Tennessee
Tennessee has been the 2nd least penalized team in the SEC before this game.

So why did you say five by Bama? Is it that hard to just be honest?

Training refs in the Sun Belt has been going on for years. It’s like the minors. The sec determines the outcome and then sees how good the ref is at making said outcome happen

Well Tennessee did get beat by a sunbelt team earlier this year so maybe they were easing them into it...

are you retarded? It's the definition of a tie. The man's spouse and in-laws all are lifelong fans of a team whose game he is officiating.

How about instead of moving the goalposts as you are you look at what has been presented. NObody is saying alabama football influenced this guy or paid him off. What is said, and is obvious, is that the guy in his personal and home life has a link (and rooting interest presumably) in alabama. He should not have any influece in any way on alabama football games. This isn't difficult.
