His relative is Sylvia Hagan Barnes:

Sylvia Hagan Barnes, Director of Officiating and Administration

Hagan Barnes is promoted to Director of Officiating Administration after serving as Associate Director since 2001 and in various other capacities since joining the SEC staff in 1991. As Director of Officiating Administration, she is responsible for providing strategic planning, oversight and management of officiating administration with primary focus on the sports of men's and women's basketball, baseball, softball, soccer and volleyball. Hagan Barnes is a 1996 graduate of UAB.

The Hagan family are all huge bama fans and many are graduates of Alabama.

How does a 30 year old with only D2 experience from Birmingham get a gig reffing the bama-Tennessee game?

Let it be noted that the OP hates LSU and is not associated with LSU.

It took about 30 seconds to find out that this is fake news.

WHAT ELSE ARE YOU LYING ABOUT SERRANEAUX?

I can't really validate the criticism of her because she has been there a long time and has worked her way up. Good for her.

In answering your question though, his relation to her probably helped. We see this alot in many organizations.

Was he the one who made the controversial call?

In the uga/bama NCG the head ref's entire in-law side of the family were bama fans that were very clearly cheering for bama all over social media. I'm not saying there were any shenanigans going on (although there were some extremely questionable calls) but it blows my mind taht there is literally only 1 game left in the season...how are you going to put a guy working it that has ANY tie whatsoever to either school?

It’s ridiculous that with coaches salaries and the amount of money being pulled in that there is even a question of officials having conflicts of interest. It’s pretty obvious they aren’t serious about it.

at the rate Alabama is committing penalties this year, the crew could be Saban's relatives and it wouldn't help.

But was he? Is an entire family supposed to stop supporting their favorite team just because their son in law is a ref? This doesn't make any sense to me.
