SEC recent bowl record thoughts

Seems to me that the SEC has underachieved in Bowl Games in recent years because if it is not the bowl or challenge that they want, the team views it as a participation trophy, and doesn't put in the preparation and effort needed to win against rising competition. The SEC still dominates college football, but you shouldn't look at bowl games for proof unless there is a national championship on the line. Look at SEC out of conference records during the regular season and even considering the cupcake factor, the SEC still dominates.

Arky is like 10-0 in bowl games the past 2 years, or something like that according to their fans

Says the fan of the team that keeps getting it's arse kicked by weak bowl teams

SEC also plays better teams in bowl games. SEC no. 5 vs Big 12 no. 2, etc....

Aggies probably can't keep carrying the SEC through bowl season.

The SEC is 0-2 in the last two games when a national championship was on the line, blowing 2TD+ leads in both games.

Well, you would have to had achieved at a high level in order for a bowl game to be a disappointment.

One bad year right? Our bad year is usually better than other major conferences.

When you have realistic goals of conference championships and national titles, it is difficult to get up for the bowls.
That is something the lower class schools like A&M don't realize.

But this is the only time during the year where it's supposed to be somewhat fair.
OOC games could be a top team from one conference against a dweller from another conference. for example, UCLA playing Virginia (Just to keep it out of the SEC). UCLA is a top 15 type team, and UVA is maybe a bowl team. I would much rather count UCLA playing a Michigan St. team in the Rose bowl than them beating the crap out of UVA at home

That's a piss poor excuse for losing a bowl game. By that logic you may as well give a pass for all losses after a team drops 2 games since it'll be oh so hard to prepare now that a title is no longer on the line.

For LSU, anything less then a national title game is a disappointing season. WHat player at LSU wants to spend their Christmas break practicing to play Notre Dame in who gives a frick bowl, when they want to be home with momma and old friends?

2014: 7-5
2013: 7-3 (best winning percentage and most wins)
2012: 6-3 (only conference with a winning record, best winning percentage, and most wins)
2011: 6-3 (tied for most wins)
2010: 5-5 (most wins)
2009: 6-4 (most wins, best winning percentage)
2008: 6-2 (most wins, best winning percentage)
We have one bad year and everyone loses their minds.

I've come to learn that Bama never loses to a better team. Bama just didn't want to be there.

Couldn't the same thing be said for Notre Dame?
Edit: and to jump off that, when LSU/Bama/Ohio State/FSU lose 3 games should they just stop practicing since there is no chance they will win a national title?
Competitors want to compete and win every game they play

We have a hard time getting excited about playing 7-4 LSU teams
Easier to get fired up for bowl games vs top power 5 competition
LSU fan logic? Right?
