We call them “games that matter most”:

Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Ole Miss

Don’t care if we rank a distant 5th or 6th in their lists.

That’s what matters to us.

Well at least around here, Aggy, Arkansas, and Ole Miss sure seem to rate you as important rivals.

Only three Ole Miss posters responded, one of them included the Hogs.

Just asking if this is, no doubt, voted on by Missouri posters.

ETA
Aaand before my fan club admin comes in hurling obscenities, it’s just a real question. Was this voted on by real Mizz fans?

Its even more fun to see him downvote when he knows I’m right.

Aggie and Arkansas were forced on us when they came into the league. The Ole Miss rivalry died years ago to everyone but the grey haired fans. Our biggest "rival" is whichever team presents the biggest obstacle to get to Atlanta. Obviously, in recent years that has been Alabama. Prior to Saban it was Auburn. And Florida was a huge thorn in our side during the Spurrier and Meyer eras.

Most one-sided Rant rivalries:

Arkansas-Texas: the Hogs consistently ranked Texas as #1, the three Texas posters responded all ranked Arkansas third.

Arkansas-Missouri: 6 out of 10 Mizzou posters included Arkansas, generally as a mid-tier or lower tier rival, but no Arkansas fans actually ranked Mizzou as a rival. I do wonder if some if this is Arkansas simply not wanting to acknowledge Mizzou.

LSU-Texas A&M: seems that the Aggies want to replace Texas with LSU, all three rated LSU very highly. LSU did include them in response, but typically behind several other lukewarm rivals.

Curious why you guys feel so strong about Illinois when you guys are really only rivals for the bragging rights game and maybe wrestling? Outside of that there’s really no drama or consistency between the two programs.

I think we have a lot of posters from the St. Louis metro. Remember, the University of Illinois is only a couple hours away from there and is probably the second most prominent fanbase that way. Especially in the Illinois suburbs.

How old are you? Both of these schools had played LSU a significant amount of times before joining the SEC. Arkansas around 35 times and A&M around 50. They’re your 6th and 7th most played teams all-time. There’s nothing forced about those games at all.

The games were not forced. The "rivalries" were. That doesn't make either team a "rival" in comparison to other SEC teams we have played on an annual basis for almost a century.

I grew up in central IL, I get the distance reasoning, especially stl being the closest major city to where I was, but again the only time is for bragging rights. I wish the two would play more frequently in football. Btw, frick the Cubs

And if this was an ACC board, Florida fans would vote for Florida State. Why validate?

Georgia, averaged out, is the biggest rival for Florida fans over the age of 55 and Florida fans under the age of 25. There's a sweet spot in the middle, but it's not enough.

Arkansas and Ole Miss hated each to the point that they refused to play each other for 20 years.

I do agree that the battle of the boot was forced and many LSU fans were irritated as a result.

At the time LSU didn't have a rival and Arkansas sacrificed rivalries from the SWC to join the SEC.

It was a big game but nothing serious.

The Arkansas/Texas series from 1958 to 1991 had 20 games decided by 7 points or less.
