Actually that may be a "feature" of Macs, as it is physically impossible to show the South Pole with that projection. The app does try for some reason and that ain't the OP's fault. But presumably he can get rid of that one troublemaker.

Interestingly, maps.google.com appears to do similar nonsense if you enter "South Pole" for the location. You get nothing but all white on a PC and have to zoom out about 30 times to see any features. I suspect this will also lock up your Mac.
