It's not bullshite. He did pretty good at Rutgers and has done amazing work at Ohio St in recruiting and coaching.
Would you want him as your coach? Was he offered a head coaching job at any other school?

Harry Rex, you were a Kentucky fan this morning before I went to work and are now sporting Tennessee colors this afternoon.
You are quite the chameleon, aren’t you!

Ray Perkins, Bill Curry, and Mikes Dubose/Price/Shula were interims in my book.
I’m not counting any of them in my Bama tally of HCs. And I’m throwing in Ears Whitworth while I’m at it.

I agree with all but Bruce. He brought life back into our program.

I don’t know what the OP was thinking, but it is clearly Tennessee. This isnt even close.

Ed Orgeron: Won 71% of games, and while that isn't where we want to be, 75% of SEC teams would have liked to have had that record last year.

With CLK still very raw and immature, he was no guarantee as a HC. His one and done bolt to USC and the wake he left behind him is evidence of that to a degree. Bad hire.
Dooley the orange pants wearing sideline lawyer. Worse hire.
A SGT Carter stunt double of a lesbian, appropriately named Butch. Worst hire.
A coach hiring three ring circus that landed an unproven, hot head of a coach. TBD.
And the winner is... UT.

Dennis Franchione, Mike Price, and Mike Shula
Strong contender for sure. But, the Bama probation period limited some options, so context is important.

I'm surprised no MSU fan has mentioned Sly Croom. You must have accepted USA Today's assessment back in 2004 that he was a "groundbreaking hire", and forgiven his shortcomings.
Or had you simply tired of Jackie Sherrill? You can only watch so many longhorn bulls get separated from their nuts.

I'd say A&M is up there as well:
Melvin Watkins (his first season was technically 1999-2000): Going winless in a major conference is now called, "pulling a Melvin". Kevin Stallings did this last season at Pitt.
Dennis Franchione: Nearly destroyed the A&M program. Had a personal biographer basically dox any internet poster that posted anything critical of him.
Billy Kennedy: 2 NCAA Tournaments in 7 seasons.
Eric Hyman: Quite possibly the worst athletic director of all time.

Over Jimbo? frick no. There is only one SEC coach I would take over Jimbo.
Would I take him over that dumbass meathead y'all ended up hiring? frick yeah.

Bama math. Bama reading comprehension. Let me break that down to easy mode just for you.
LSU finished 6-2, 9-4 last year. That put us in 4th place (no ties), with only Bama, GA, and Aub at 7-1 finishing higher. 75% was a rough guess, it was actually 71%, but the basis of my statement stands. All but 3 SEC teams would "have liked" to have had our record. See how easy that was?

Hey, I hate him as much as the next guy but any SEC fan whose team isn't currently coached by Nick Saban would trade their coach for Urban Meyer in a heartbeat.

You act like Arkansas has made good coaching hires. Muschamp hired Weiss when Weiss was doing a good job as an OC in the NFL.
Posted on 4/3/18 at 8:10 pm to tjv305
Funniest thing about this thread is all those ‘bad’ hires are 6-1 vs Arkansas in the 21st century.
Posted on 4/3/18 at 8:16 pm to Harry Rex Vonner
Dude is there a real need for this thread? And Urban won natty's at Florida. Geez, just when I thought I'd seen everything.
