I think we are more like Sleeping Beauty. Except the handsome prince never came. Then one day, grumpy from Snow White was out processing some bitches and he came across sleeping beauty and groped her until she woke up. He led her back to town and then when they got there, grumpy decided to take delusiony (the unknown dwarf) under his wing, while dopey and Sleeping Beauty fell in love.
The end.
The end.

Saban never won a bowl game until he came to LSU-Fact.

My kids would get "the look" at this point. I can't look at you directly, so this will have to do:

This thread doesn't scream insecurity at all.
No it doesn't...just the truth, but I forgot, Bammers can't handle the truth..always in denial...that's one of your PROBLEMS...who ever heard of Saban before he coached at LSU?..nobody,..hell I didn't even know who he was after Skip announced his hiring...Skip should get more credit for hiring the little munchikin, and giving him his START in college football...

I don't know why some LSU fans can't accept the fact that Saban was very good to and for LSU.
Now, with that said, LSU was very good for Saban and his career just as much as he was good to LSU.
What most people don't understand is that Mark Emmert had just as much, if not more, to do with LSU's success as Saban did. Emmert was hired in 1999 and he recognized that LSU needed a strong football program to help build the overall strength of the university.
Emmert fired Joe Dean and hand picked Nick Saban as the next football coach at LSU. Emmert is the one who raised the money to hire Saban and pay for a first class team of asst. coaches.
Saban did his homework and understood the recruiting base of LA and how most LA recruits weren't staying home to play.
Emmert is the one how put all the wheels in motion to raise all the hundreds of millions of dollars to build new football facilities.
Saban, to his credit, understood what facilities needed to be built to attract elite prospects. While other schools spent all their money on football stadiums, Saban understood what facilities truly attracted elite prospects and those are the ones that the players use every single day, so that's what LSU spent their money on.(football ops center, athletic academic center, indoor practice facility, student-athlete housing, weight room, etc.,etc.
Emmert was also smart enough to give Saban full power to run the football program and keep the meddling boosters at bay. Bama, to their credit, did the same when they hired him. LSU, to their credit, have kept that power structure in place and have allowed Miles to run the football program without meddling boosters to interfere.

quote:+1 This is damn obvious.
Saban would not be where he is today without LSU, and LSU would not be where it is today without Saban.
Both were sleeping giants that needed a similar counterpart to "wake up" and thrive.
I remember when Saban was hired thinking that wow he only had one 10 win season at Michigan St. Then I read that Mich St. had not had a 10 win season in 33 years!

Not really. Lsu has and has always had the perfect ingredients for a powerhouse (flagship school, recruiting hotbed etc), all it took was a willing administration to hire saban, invest the money in athletics etc.
Lsu will always be as good as the athletic department and admin allows. It takes commitment all the way around. Lsu is stronger then ever with miles here.

This is the most accurate statement made. Without Emmert, LSU and Saban may not be where they are.
Hats off to Emmert for his vision.
I'm glad saban was the one Emmert chose and he did the job he did for the Tigers.
If bama thought saban was some football genius, why didn't they get him from Mich St. when they were playing merry-go-'round with coaches?
