Those numbers are pretty damn depressing all around. Too much emphasis on getting degrees for young people rather than focusing on a career-oriented end goal.

1. Vanderbilt - $72,800
2. Texas A&M - $59,400
3. Florida - $56,700
4. Georgia - $49,900
5. Missouri - $48,800
6. Auburn - $47,300
The true BIG 6 or maybe Life Champions...you decide?
Newbies A&M and Mizzou brought y'all $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

SoG, I don't doubt this one bit but do you have a link?

I would like to see a list that adjusted for standard of living. That makes a huge difference. For instance, I probably make 30% more then I would doing the same job in a different city even in the same state, but my cost of living is a lot more as well.

Would be more reflective of whether this is good or bad to also include cost of living adjustments.
40k doesn't sound like much, and while you're not getting rich you can live decently in Alabama.
40k in Los Angeles you're living with your parents or homeless because you can't afford a place to live.

Disagree with you on this. Everyone I know my age (25), including me, with these degrees are already being paid annually in the top 7 of the OP's list. The OP's list is mind boggling to me. Get a good outside sales job with any type of business degree, and you'll start at a minimum of 40,000-45,000 right out of college.

We have a ton of women at SC. I'm several years from 34 but everyone I know in my graduating class and a few years apart is making twice that at least.

Based off those charts, looks like A&M would be the best bang for your buck school in the SEC.

I live in a more rural area. I'm just going off the people I know.
Most of these states have a lot of rural areas too.

It's all the lawyers bringing the numbers down.

True, no worries, I get that. Good point, All the peeps I know with those degrees moved to more urban environments to get jobs.

That is not even factoring in the cost of living differences. All the other schools have guys that are married and have to give half the money to their wives. Texas A&M male grads get to keep most of their money (outside of what they spend at the same sex clubs and bathhouses).

No problem at all - I'm terrible at that. Added to OP.

Totally agree - a $80K job in Albany, GA vs the same job in Atlanta/Nashville could (and probably is) be a difference of 10-15K in salary.

Also something to consider; median /= average. The average income may be considerably higher.
You're gonna have a 'minimum' that a college grad will make. Probably around 30k. So let's say the sample size is 100 grads. You might have 50 of those making between 30-50k, your teachers and what not. That'll put your median at 50k. The remaining 50 could be making anywhere from 60k-250k+ with a few outliers even well above that. The average could easily be around 75k or more.
IMO, this metric is basically measuring how many teachers a school churns out. At least, that's how I remember 'median' working in 4th grade.

We usually rank high for the best value rankings.

Is this really good or does it actually suck considering they only take the top 1 or 2% of students?

I assume most of those are teachers/non-profits/part-time work/etc in rural places (which is a lot of the South). Most of those folks understand they are sacrificing pay to do something they want to do/think needs to be done.
Just my guess.
Or they're getting some worthless liberal arts degree.
