We were overrated. The supporting cast around Maten and Frazier was not as good as expected.

Plus, Frazier was not very consistent early in the season.

Outside of A&M the media got it pretty right, especially if you look at the rankings in tiers.

Not sure why LSU or mizzou fans are upset about achieving their expected performance.

What that really shows is the SEC is Kentucky and Florida as the top 2. We really don't know who outside of those 2 teams are gonna be NCAA tournament teams at the beginning of the year. I'm interested to see how the preseason poll is next year?

?? Anything not to hold Fox accountable.

And blaming anything on JJ is ridiculous. Firstly, he was plenty consistent once conference play started which this is specifically referring to. Second, without JJ we drop probably every game after Yante went down.

I see Mizzou is right on the mark.

Sometimes though, I can't blame them for picking us to be 8th. Thornwell is obviously a stud, but when he's off the court we're likely a completely different team even when the other 4 starters are still on.

It's truly night and day. Don't get me wrong, Dozier and Notice have their moments and big games but are terribly inconsistent.

Silva is a stud but can't avoid foul trouble.

Players like McKie, Kotsar, and even Gravett aren't terrible but 8-10 points are big games for them.

1 Kentucky 1 - 0
2 Florida 2 - 0
3 Texas A&M 10 - -7
4 Georgia 8 - -4
5 Arkansas 3 - +2
6 Vanderbilt 7 - -1
7 Alabama 5 - +2
8 South Carolina 4 - +4
9 Ole Miss 6 - +3
10 Mississippi State 12 - -2
11 Auburn 11 - 0
12 LSU 13 - -1
13 Tennessee 9 - +4
14 Missouri 14 - 0

No, Georgia was properly rated. The media just didn't realize that Mark Fox was not worried about development in the guards because he already has an all SEC first team guard.

If JJ Frazier was gotten into foul trouble in every game, as last game, Georgia would have been 13-18 or 12-19.

I'd say so... They had a shot at finishing 6th which would have been closer to projections, the other 2 spots fall squarely on Fox... But cue DD to come defend the idea that we still need to give Fox more time.

If these rankings came out before the news that JJ Caldwell was going to have to sit, I don't think it would look as bad for A&M. We honest to god were just a point guard away from a tournament team and most likely top 4 SEC.

We kind of knew that State was still a year away from competing. The kool-aid drinkers were thinking NCAA tourney. The realistic fans including myself thought making the NIT would be a successful year. We fell short of both unless some magic happens during the conference tourney

Georgia finishing where they did was due to in conference scheduling. Had we played Ole Miss or Alabama's schedule we would be right were they were.
