This bill only passed by a 14-13 vote? I would like to know who in the hell did not vote for it and why? Allowing more "gourmet beer" or "high gravity" beers into the State has only provided more tax revenue for the State. I still would like to see bottles larger than 16oz become legal because some awesome beers from Belgium are sold like that..

Can't buy on Sunday either

That isn't completely accurate. The main cities and counties in Alabama allow Sunday alcohol sales. The Bham and Mobile and Huntsville and Ttown and Auburn areas ALL have Sunday alcohol sales.

I looked at that map and saw "WET - DRY - MOIST" and my mind exploded.
After intensive internet research (Wikipedia), this is apparently a common term for partially dry. Just never heard it before.

Alabama needs to get its shite together and learn from the Catholics
frick the stupid arse bible-humping douche bags holding you back and just demand this crap
ETA: I have a personal vendetta against this, as we were so pissed off 2 years ago in Hoover when we ran out of beer and couldn't get anymore due to the stupid arse laws

Sadly, even the places that have Sunday sales have held to the dark period on Sunday morning while the Baptists are in church.
Even though this is repressive, I find it much more palatable (as a person who spends most of his time traveling outside of the state) than the laws in Kentucky, which is mostly dry, Oklahoma, which has a 3.2 abv law for beer, and Pennsylvania, which only allows beer sales in "bars" and from beer "distributors".

Also, Alabama and Mississippi are the only two states in the union that it is still illegal to home brew.

3.2 seems awfully low. Isn't a standard beer around 5.0?

A can is actually better for the beer.

That is some funny shite... "Underage drinking, just get someone to brew it for you."

You're telling me that before this you couldn't even buy a 24 oz Budweiser for the ride home from work?
Posted on 2/22/12 at 7:59 am to OBReb6
Nope, but you could buy a 30pk.
Makes sense doesn't it?

I'm just surprised that there was a place that had a more backwards law than Mississippi. But there's plenty of other shitty alcohol laws that we have to deal with.

In my county, no liquor sales on Sunday and no beer and until 1 pm.
Posted on 2/22/12 at 8:15 am to BloodSweat&Beers
My home county in Mississippi has no alcohol restrictions whatsoever, except for the state law that beer can be no more than 5% alcohol content, which raises a different question.
How have they been able to sell bud light platinum in Mississippi? It is 6% alcohol content.
