Everybody gets kicked out.
Bring in Southern Miss, Memphis, Tulane, UL-Lafayette, UL-Monroe, UAB, Georgia State, South Alabama, FIU, FAU, UT-San Antonio, UTEP, Middle Tennessee, Kent State, Hawaii and Eastern Michigan.
Talk about a POWERHOUSE conference!

You mean the SEC network will expand.
SEC will get another market at some point, it may be 5/10 years but North Carolina and Virginia will be annexed soon!

All joking aside, its not likely to happen because of the new ACC and Big12 deals??

There are really no quality teams that would bring anything to the table is the Southeaster area.

Does the SEC expand to 16 teams? If so, then who?
My sources on twitter are saying Connecticut and BYU will be added by the end of the week.

Whoa, hold on there. Plenty of quality teams. FSU, Louisville, Clemson, Georgia Tech, and many others already mentioned. Just no feasibility or necessity at this point.

At this point what would they bring to the SEC ? Increased TV Footprint ? At least A&M and Mizzu brought huge TV Markets with them.

The only reason the SEC would add them is to cock block the Big 10 from moving further south.
Unless they decide to do that the next schools will come from new states.

If anything I think they would bring in NC St or UNC for Charlotte and Raliegh TV markets and then add Va Tech for the DC market and move Mizzou to the West. Still won't happen with the ACC GORs

Was referring to quality teams, so yes, you're right, no reason to bring 'em in.

If the MAryland v ACC case rules that GOR's violate Antiturst laws it could be open season on conference expansion again.
Im kinda rooting for ACC in that case tho. Maryland and Big Ten can frick off.

NC State or ECU and VT or UVA
Anybody thinking UNC will leave the ACC is being silly. The conference is basically run it out of Chapel Hill and puts the REC to shame. Duke wouldn't split from UNC either.
NC State has the largest enrollment in both North and South Carolina. ECU is pretty big as well and doesn't have the grant of rights issues that ACC schools do.
Both are part of the UNC system though so I'm not sure if that would affect their ability to join or not.

That may not be as crazy as it sounds, but ODU, not JMU. If we expand, it's likely VA and NC to add most tv sets. I think ODU has already moved up to CUSA, and is in the recruiting hotbed of the Tidewater.
Having said that, please dear god no. As a VCU fan, I hate ODU. And after living in VA, I don't want VA Tech in the SEC.

These teams bring no new T.V. markets and therefore nothing to the table.
They will never get an invite to the SEC and I die a little inside every time someone mentions them as possible expansion teams because its never ever ever ever ever ever ever gonna happen.
ever.
Joe Schad showed how big of a dumbass he really is when he reported that Clemson FSU and GT were gonna join the SEC a few years ago.

Not true at all. The Maryland case isn't about a GOR, which was enacted after Maryland left, but about the $50 million exit fee. No matter the results of the case, the ACC and Big 12 GORs are solid for a decade.
SEC realignment is over for a while. And when it resumes maybe the rules are different.
Maybe in 10+ years TV goes IP and à la carte. If that happens the goal isn't new markets, it is new fanbases willing to pay $10+ a month for the SEC Network. Then suddenly FSUs and Clemsons are back in play.

Can we get a count of how many SEC expansion threads we get through the entire offseason? I thin we are already at two or three
Posted on 1/14/14 at 3:09 pm to LaffyTiger
People won't be happy till the SEC has 48 teams and the playoff includes all 124 D1-A teams.
Sometimes less is more.

Not necessarily. If you brought Louisville and Miami in, these are pretty big markets even though they're in established SEC states. Still not a fan of further expansion, though.

Let's forget about expansion for a decade and get used to A&M and Mizzou. They're proving to be two great additions.

that would only be the case if ESPN is unsuccessful getting the SECN on the basic tier of each major TV provider in those states.
I'm betting that ESPN will have the power to ram it through and thus the cities those schools are in will already have the SECN.
You can bet for damn sure that when Louisville plays at Kentucky or FSU plays at Florida those games will be on the SECN as extra incentive for the TV providers to relent.
