GT was SEC once though
And I'm sure the SEC will protect the UGA/AU game I was just saying the obligatory "better not mess up our rivalry" stuff

They can't mess up the third Saturday in October. That game with Bama is to important to both those schools. Just so much tradition. That is what makes the SEC so great.
I think you will see the divisions like this.
UT,UGA,Vandy,UK
FSU,FL,Clemson,USC
Bama,AU,Miss,Miss st.
LSU,Ark,A&M,Missouri
That makes the most sense. The only thing is UGA vs. FL and vs. Auburn. They have two big rivals. I don't know how you get both. But each team would keep one game like that every year.

I'll be surprised if they go to 4 divisions, but that would be more flexible in terms of keeping the traditional rivals and still getting to play everyone at least occasionally.
I will tell you though, that while our games with Bama and AU are not as longstanding as some of the others, LSU fans will not be happy if they were to quit playing those teams on a regular basis.

Why couldn't you go to 4 divisions and keep the last weekend before the SEC championship game as a flex date and have a schedule based on division standings. For example division 1 1st place against division 2 1st place and so on. It would be a defacto semifinal and every conference team would be active. Does the NCAA require that the schedules be locked in before the start of the season?

Seems like that would make the brutal SEC even more so. We would just beat up on each other when in reality two teams from the SEC should play for the BCS. There just isn't a good system in place as far as bowl games and all go

USC vs. Clemson would have to a yearly game. This game is huge in SC.
