Hey, I know that Arkansas has some defense. At season's end y'all may be #1. Florida has defense, too. They may lead the league in November. But "power ranking" UTEP and NMSU? Please!

While ASU is a "name", it has been largely ignored what all they lost from last season.

The same thing happened with Carolina last season, too many people assume a team has guys to replace those who were lost the prior season, basically giving some schools/coaches the benefit of doubt.

Arkansas was said to be facing a "huge" step back after losing 4 players on the defensive side of the ball, instead the numbers show a D picking up right where it left off last season even after the losses. Even if it was "just" UTEP, it was during the first week of the season which see many teams often a shite show on both sides of the ball and win by default of more talent against competition such as this.

Jump in for what? It's a ranking based on the least amount of yards given up, ranked to Tennessee.

It's not an opinion.

Jump in for a good defensive performance against a credible team. But you already knew that.

Wow! That's an unbiased opinion (and frankly premature too). Bama would be ranked #1 and A&M would probably be #2 at this point if I was absolutely forced to rank (although it is still too early to really tell).

IMO, we can't rely on statistics from your Hogs or my Rebels (because of their weak competition) anymore than we can rely on LSU's first game statistics thus far!

UF should be a little lower. Our safety play was shite early on. D Line did not dominate as it should have. However, Anzalone and Morrison were terrific. I like that LB combination in Nickel, with Davis being the third LB.

Should be better when we have both of our starters back.

As noted above, UTEP was a FBS bowl team last season and they lost by 4 to Texas Tech. What's A&M's record against Texas Tech?

Besides, he ranked us 11th! What's got you so upset?

A&M smoked Tech the last 3 times we played them and we beat UTEP 57-7 in '13.

If you want to think that routing UTEP tells you anything other than you aren't terribad you are a moron.

We had starting 2 safeties out and starting def end. NMS scored once on an 18 yd drive due to us fumbling deep in our own shadow of the goalpost and the other score was long pass over our back up safety.

Every bubble screen they tried was blown up pronto. The reaction time and speed of our defense is sick.

UF was missing both starting safeties or we held them under 100(their biggest two plays, one was Harris our back up getting pwned which doesn't happen with Neal). Add in the only big run they had involved a massive drag down hold or it was a one yard gain ;/.

Either way. Our defense is nasty this year. Not Tennessee hyping terrible defense as nasty, but actually nasty.

UTEP lost by 4 to Texas Tech, who has owned A&M over the past 20 years.

From 2009 - Present, Texas Tech has literally only beaten A&M once in any sport (women's tennis)

I know I'm a little late to the party, but are we talking about the same Tennessee that was going to win the East this year?

I'm surprised more Bama fans haven't jumped in here, because their team clearly had the best defensive performance.

I would actually say the Shelties had the best, considering the opponents offense.

Just happy to get out of week 1 with a solid win. Got some questions answered. Have some youth scattered across the board that needs experience and hopefully they can get that without the team taking too much damage.

You beat Tech by 5 points in the last game and you're 6-11 in the last 20 years against them. That's 4 more losses then we have in our entire history against Tech.

Having said that, I wanna apologize for attacking A&M, since I forgot that derstum is a shorthorn fan, masquerading as an Aggie. After we held Texas to 59 yards last year, he probably had no interest in revealing himself.

bama had given up 10 points and 200 yards to a top 20 team until they put in the backups in the 4th quarter. all stats for every team not named bama, texas a&m, auburn, and south carolina are completely meaningless at this point

All good stats

Tennessee's defensive stat is important. Means they are awful.

Muscramp gave up how many yards and points? The improvement I saw from Muscramp is 61 points in Gainesville.
