While I love having the SECCG in Atlanta, I’m not so much against it rotating as I think the ACC would lock up a 10 yr deal in Atlanta if the SEC went to a rotation.

However, here is the different thought.

Since we are eliminating divisions and the playoff is expanding. The ability secure a bye with the top 4 P5 champs. Should the championship be hosted by the 1st place team in the standings?

Why? And whatever the reason, no.

I would like to see rotation.

I'm okay if it rotates among ATL, Nashville, NOLA, and either Dallas or Houston.

A home field advantage.

Take last year for example. Had LSU won the SECCG, with 3 losses there is no way they would haven’t gotten the bye and UGA with 1 loss couldn’t have because they would not have a championship. Wonder if it would be a good advantage to have your BEST team try to secure the bye at home.

Like, I said , just a thought.

That's actually an interesting idea imo. I'm not a travel agent so I have no idea if Hattiesburg Mississippi or Gainesville Florida would have enough hotel occpupancy, but that's still an interesting question.

Why would an SEC home game ever be in Hattiesburg?

Nobody watches or attends the ACC Championship. Atlanta would take a beating signing that deal.

LSU wouldn't have sniffed the SECCG last year, assuming the tiebreaker in the future is based on the CFP standings, which is should. Would've been Georgia and Alabama

1. Georgia
6. Alabama
7. Tennessee
14. LSU

The location of the game matters the least.

What drives revenue is streaming rights, and TV rights (for now).

Atlanta needs the SECCG more than the SEC needs Atlanta.

I think it’s time to do away with the conference championship games- in the current playoff format. It’s about National Championships.

It wouldn't be up to the city of Atlanta. It would be up the Mercedes Benz Stadium. And, yes. They would lock it up for a permanent deal over one every three or four years.

Put yourself in their position. If you owned a facility and you had a choice of renting that facility once every 4-5 years or have it locked up renting every single year which would you pick? The facility gets the money whether 100,000 fans show up or if 10 fans show up. It would be up to the ACC and it would sell out every year. And, the ACC would increase it's awareness in the heart of SEC territory.

But sure. Rotate the game.

Doubtful. Even if they do, they're still not moving the campus to Hattiesburg.

Why do y'all keep trying to "fix" something that isn't broken?

They already have a school in the heart of Atlanta. That logic means the SEC should play their game in Chicago or LA.

I’m not trying to fix anything.. I said that d rather it stay in Atlanta, I was just curious if the thought of locking in a bye for the SEC champion might move the game to on campus..

The reason I clarified it as another thought.

I have numerous posts about why it will not leave Atlanta at all.

I get your reasoning, but Atlanta is SEC stronghold. We just don't want to give it up. Besides, the idea is to get a foothold in a populous recruiting area. Atlanta with Georgia and Florida (I would also start to put Alabama) has a ton of talent high school wise. Chicago? not so much.

GT is hardly a big draw. Having Georgia, Florida, Auburn and Alabama ad Tennessee, though? 5 of the Big 6 is right here in this area, and LSU is not that far off. Yes. I understand the dynamics change a bit once Texas and Oklahoma come into the SEC.

Hey. I watch the games at home eating hot wings and drinking iced tea, If they move it, it is no skin off my back. I do think it would be a mistake, though.
