and the statement the OP linked was from yesterday. Last week........

Directly after the announcement, SEC commissioner Greg Sankey appeared on the Paul Finebaum Show and stated that he was incredibly surprised that the NCAA made a decision on an event like that this early, three months away.

"I’m surprised we’ve made a decision in March not to hold baseball and softball events in June. I’d love to know what went into those decisions," Sankey said.

The SEC has still only officially cancelled sports through March 30. If, at that time or shortly after, it is deemed that there is no risk to play, resuming the regular season is not out of the question.

SEC Deputy Commissioner Charlie Hussey told Sports Talk Mississippi that no decision has been made by the league yet regarding baseball after the March 30 date. There is still a chance that the conference could play its games, knowing that there would be no postseason.

Why is it a shock? We all knew baseball wasn't going to happen. That was the most wishful of wishful thinking believing otherwise.

Because we already knew sports were canceled for the rest of the spring, which is the end of the 2019-2020 athletic year. At first glance it looks like you're trying to stir shite by making it seem football has been canceled.

No. They were only SUSPENDED until March 30. Only yesterday did they officially shut it down. You may have had an assumption but my post was simply to pass along official confirmation.
