Collins by a LARGE margin.
After that i'm not sure I've seen enough to separate the next tier but I'll be rooting for Derrius Guice. James White has enough talent to be in the discussion with Drake/Michel/Heard - but Christensen will have to have a big impact on both playcalling and scheme for him to get enough quality touches to have an impact.
Michel seems like a safe bet after Collins.

He looks like Percy Harvin with a ball. I don't like comparing people...but Sony is so smooth. I hope he gets healthy, he's definitely talented. I dunno about him being better than Chubb, Chubb was already a beast against Clemson.
This is such a great problem to have...

Are you confused about the subjective word best?

No. Not at all. Alex Collins is the best second string and its not even close

It's hard to compare Collins against Sony. The reason is because AC3 plays in an offense that even if your the #2 back you're gonna get enough touches to make a 1000 yards achievable. Sony is unbelievable just watch him run he is an extremely smart back and has shown that he is good enough to start over Chubb (he is not better than Chubb by any means but proved he could be before injury). He got hurt so we can't say we'll look at his whole season if there is no Gurley and he is healthy 1000 yards would have been easily attainable.

Collins looks the part going into the season. Heck of a lot of fine RB's in the SEC this year.

Hate to go against my own guy but this is similar to the LF/NC debates. While I think Michel could certainly be the best #2 if he plays to his full potential and is healthy, no one can reasonably argue with Alex Collins based on the bodies of work.

I really like his style. He runs up the field for a guy who is not as big. Finds the holes well. He is a great back.
Not sure about him being better than Chubb though.

Based on what?

His two 1000 plus yard seasons? Sony has plenty of talent, probably more than Collins but you can't argue with body of work. I mean...how can we say Sony is better than Collins when Collins has out produced him then say LSU fans are retarded for saying the same thing about Fournette and Chubb?

Based on his performance and the eye test. Isn't that the only thing we have to use on this thread?
dude is a total beast and work horse.
Id love to say one of the Auburn guys would be but in reality, we have no idea about either of our backs at this time

Collins had a beast September, but looked like plain grits after that.
Posted on 7/8/15 at 11:37 am to djsdawg
Texas Tech was his best game

And Sony played like 2 games after September.
I want him to be as good as you think he is, but if he doesn't stay on the field it doesn't mean a thing.

I asked a question to the auburn guy. Btw, Op didn't ask about who had the most yards. He said best and most ready to start, which are two diff subjects.

I made that same point with my first post.

He's never had a 100 yard game after the month of September.

The dynamic Arkansas ballcarrier who’s gunning for his third consecutive 1,000-yard season isn’t the same running back when October rolls around. In fact, none of his seven 100-yard games have come past the end of September when teams begin to establish an identity leading to the meat of the schedule.
quote:
On the field, only two of Collins’ 100-yard games have come against SEC competition, both vs. Texas A&M who had the league’s worst rush (and total) defense each of the past two seasons. Inspecting his late season numbers since arriving at Arkansas, Collins is averaging 4.4 yards per carry over the second half of the season compared to a sparkling 6.3 yards per carry average during the first six weeks.
quote:
Collins’ overall reps didn’t take a hit as a result, but his production did. The competition’s been noticeably tougher (mostly against SEC squads) late in the year, the lead contributor to his struggles. Collins became less of a factor in the screen game during the second half of last season as well.

what screen game?
That said, I think it will be a focus this year with Enos as OC
Collins has a lot of "tough" yards...He's not a burner compared to some of the others, but he's shifty in the hole and can make something out of nothing.
