SEC basketball programs ranked by all time AP poll rankings
quote:
Then do conference championships

LINK
Regular season SEC championships by school:

1) Kentucky - 49
2) LSU - 11
3) Tennessee - 10

No. of poll rankings and No. of SEC Titles are just
two criteria to gauge a program. There are others.

LSU is pretty highly ranked in the SEC also by:
No. of Tournament appearances
No. of Final Fours (4)
No. of Sweet 16s
Number of NBA HOFers (3)

Doesn’t the AP do their final poll before the tournament?

True, I was simply sharing a ranking that was strictly based on the all time AP poll. Nothing more, nothing less.

FWIW, here's a link to CBS's opinion of the Top 68 college basketball programs of all time

Yes. They never do another poll after the tournament. Arkansas finished #2 in 93-94 and finished #6 in 94-95 for example.

So we weren’t even a top 10 team in 06 per the AP.

May be one of the worst rankings I have ever seen.

AP poll in basketball is one of the dumbest things about the sport.

Florida finished ranked #11 in 05-06 and #3 in 06-07.

Wikipedia has a good list you can adjust.
NCAA Team W/L Records

This is a good site for basketball program historical information.

Wait a minute Bama has only finished the season in the top 8 schools ONE time in their entire history? Why even make this thread to embarrass your program even more?

We're probably a Top 25 all-time program in the regular season. We're a borderline Top 50 all-time program in the tournament (which is, of course, what matters).

I think we have the worst win % in the Sweet 16 of anybody in college basketball history. We either get a terrible draw, choke, lose a weird game, whatever. It's always something. We just always find ways to lose in the Sweet 16, except for the completely off the wall year of 2004.

Yep - it's wild

LSU has been to 10 Sweet 16s. Alabama has been to 7 Sweet 16s.

LSU has been to 6 Elite 8s. Alabama has been to 1 Elite 8.

LSU has been to 4 Final 4s. Alabama has been to 0 Final 4s.

We just shite out pants in the Sweet 16. It's what we do. Tennessee too, to a certain extent.
