People said the same thing about Dale Brown and Brown took LSU to two final fours among other times in the dance!!

Kentucky
A&M
Florida
South Carolina
Thats the order this will play out come seasons end, and the only four we'll get in.

Well then. Things got a little out of hand there for a few pages.

I'm not the biggest Jones fan myself but let's not pretend Avery is any good. He was a complete train wreck against LSU.

You mean the game where our team of rag tag transfers, freshmen and mid-major level players with no post presence lost by 2 at the buzzer to a team with 3 NBA players including the best player of the decade?
Yea. What a disaster.

Dude, Avery was a mess at the end. He is not a good coach. Zone was killing LSU and he gets away from it allowing Simmons to completely dominate. I know Bama wants to think Avery is good but there's a reason he wasn't at the top of the ADs list

We have two players on the entire roster who can create their own shot. One broke his foot and is out for the year and the other had the ball in hands at the end.

Hell, Simmons was killing our zone too. He was catching the ball at the top of the key and either draining 15 footers or surveying the floor and making us scramble.

Yea, our bunch was picked to finish 13th in the SEC, lost our starting PG and has (a) 3 Top 50 wins (b) 0 100+ losses and has a Top 60 RPI in addition to having a Top 10 recruiting class including a 5-star from Dallas.
Avery is clearly a train wreck.

Ok. Avery is a good coach. Yall said the same thing about Anthony Grant...

I don't think he is Coach K but I think our guys are clearly playing with more confidence and at a higher level than we have in 3 or 4 years. Our in-game adjustments are light years ahead of anything we saw under Grant.

Sure, just like everyone says when they hire a highly coveted young coach with success at a previous stop. And the first 2-3 years Grant showed the same sorts of traits. However, our player development what dog shite, his didn't sell the program and things got worse. Same thing could feasibly happen to AJ the next 3 years, and if so then we will be moving on again.
However, through 2/3 of the season and one recruiting class he has lived up to expectations.

Let's put it this way. I don't like Johnny but I certainly wouldn't trade coaches with you. I also wouldn't want Billy Kennedy (Stansbury is coaching that team), mike Anderson, Kim Anderson, or Andy Kennedy. I'm interested to see how Howland and Barnes do. I think they're both washed up but maybe I'm wrong and they're still hungry

That's fine. I am pretty happy with where we are. AJ was a wild card, but I think his raw personality traits made him a perfect fit for college and recruiting, and his X's and O's are at the worst middle of the pack for a college coach.
I actually don't see why everyone hates Jones so much. He excels in one of the 2 important areas of being a college coach (recruiting), and while he is below average in the coaching area, he is set to have NCAA or NCAA bubble teams at LSU for most of his tenure. I mean, it gets frustrating sometimes, but things could be a whole lot worse.

I think Barnes is washed up. His last half decade at Texas was bad, and I don't think he will recruit much better than the previous guys at Tennessee. I think Howland will end up being a steal at State.

This has always been my thoughts but after looking at recruiting in the SEC, it looks like LSU is currently around 50. Which shocked me. That could all change because it is still early but was expecting him to at least have a top 25 class coming in like he normally does.
