No, I've seen it before. Just kind of surprises me that LSU goes that far with the advertising.

Ditto. I know A&M sold naming rights but I love how ads on the field are at a minimum. Very clean fences.

LSU Athletic Department is one of a handful of universities to not request subsidies and the only one from the SEC (at least from 2012 fiscal year they were).The advertisements, donations, and TAF all go a long way in helping the department continue to thrive at being self-sufficient and not rely on government aid. Not to mention, one of the few to continual give back yearly to the academic side of the university.
I don't like the overload of advertisements in the PMAC, Box, or even in Tiger Stadium (though not as bad as before), it's proven to be beneficial to the university.

That has to be some accounting quirk. You KNOW that Bama's football program brings in more than enough to fund their entire athletic department and not need any funds from the academic side. I'm pretty sure that State's football program does, too.

Wrong. Florida's athletics are completely funded by the Gator Boosters Inc. We take no public money and we give millions to the university as well.
