Arkansas had a better weekend. Texas has a better resume.

So you just ignore that Arkansas has lost 3 of the last 4 series?

As you say it’s definitely a puzzle not easy to solve, and I could argue it multiple ways, but again due to the manner in which the Hogs beat Texas I just can’t put them behind Horns.

The good news is that it’ll all work out by the end of the season. If Texas has another weekend like that and/or Hogs beat LSU on the road then another correction will take place.

Agreed.

It’s the kind of match up you save for Omaha, but I could see them screwing this up.

What a joke of a poll D1 is starting to look like.

Somehow the NCBWA poll is even weirder. Auburn beat a top 5 Tennessee team on the road (going by their poll) and they drop is a spot from 11th to 12th.

Georgia? They have been swept twice.

But surely you don't believe Georgia should be ranked #1, do you? I was thinking somewhere around 5 or 6? MAYBE 4th or 5th at best right now? If the pitching keeps improving we could make a run at first provided we get hot. But, that's the thing about baseball. The hot team can go far.

I'm not sure who should be ranked number one, since every team has warts. ARK/LSU are the most complete teams, and TEX lacks at the plate but has the pitching. UGA has been playing well, but not as well as the beginning of the season. AU has the resume of a NS

Others to mention
TENN appears to be just coasting, and may be in trouble come regionals
MSU is on a tear since firing their coach
A&M and Florida should both get in despite a disastrous start

No I don’t think we’re #1. I just reject the premise that us getting swept twice in the road at likely-national seeds is an albatross when Texas got swept the one and only time they were made to play a ranked SEC squad in the road this season.

The pitching has actually been keeping us in games the past few weeks. It’s the bats that have gone quiet.

Congratulations, you sound like an LSU fan

Or, I'd imagine, a fan of any of the SEC teams currently ranked.

Everybody has strong teams, with pretty prominent holes. Texas may win the regular season title, but I believe most people think they're in trouble for the postseason. Teams like LSU, Tennessee, and obviously Arkansas could knock them out of a super regional; take game 1 and then go all-in in the 2nd game.

It's not standings if the teams aren't listed by order of record

Ah, gotcha! And I agree with you and the other poster that answered. Baseball is such a funny sport. So many games and teams are bound to go through hot streaks and cold streaks. Whoever gets hot at the right time will win it. If I had to go out on a limb I would say Texas, but a lot of that is because of the way they played us. Granted, they were at home, but I never felt we were in the series. Arkansas would be my next pick and then a toss up between us and LSU, maybe?

Who knows, though. If our pitching continues to improve and our bats wake up....

no reason to get worked up over Texas staying at "number one" after we dominated them

insanity

these polls are simply losing respectability as a result of this
