Since 2008 (nine seasons, ten with 2017 pending), the SEC has had 21 teams in Omaha, or an average of over 2 teams per year. More impressively, last year was the only year in that stretch that we didn't have at least 2 teams there. We twice got 3 teams there, and once, in 2015, had 4 teams there. What's more, EIGHT different teams have been to the CWS in that stretch, or more than half of the SEC, and four from each division have made it during this time.

In that same stretch, we have had 9 participants in the championship series (or one per year), and four national champions, with three different teams winning the four titles and SIX different teams appearing in the title series (UGA, MSU, LSU, USC, VU and UF).

Last year was by far the conference's worst showing in Omaha during this run, with one team making it there and going 2 and Q. I'm interested to see if we can come back strong this year.

The SEC also had an 8 year stretch between 2008-2015 of teams making it into the championship series.

I was about to post that. We dominated baseball just like football.

As the Champs, MSU should have had a better showing in last years tourney. 13 draft picks and a HOT 'Zona team did us in. Sorry

in our defense of our showing last year...2 of 3 best teams in the sec (MSU and LSU) lost in the supers to the two teams that made the CWS final. we just ran into the two hottest teams in the country which showed in Omaha as they beat everyone else

this shows how hard it is to be consistent in this sport and makes what we have done over the last decade even more incredible

No doubt. Who would have guessed that Arizona's 3rd baseman would be the best freaking pitcher we faced last year . But, he was

2016 was such a strange year. probably the strongest the conference has ever been at the top. Vandy losing their pitcher was extremely unfortunate but no excuse for A&M, LSU, State, and USC for not making it to omaha.

Our football dominance was impressive too but I'm really impressed with the depth of very good teams in SEC baseball. Kentucky could easily add another team this year, and A&M did make the CWS in their last year in the Big 12. So that would be 10 of 14 in Omaha in one decade.

IMO the most impressive part of this is the amount of different teams to have success at that level...tbh no other conference in any other sport really ever has that..its always a couple dominant teams that carry a conference

even us in football which at one point during our run we had four straight different teams winning from 2007-2010 with LSU, UF, bama and auburn (which is crazy impressive) but now its become just bama in terms of competing for a national championship

WTF? I like opossums in general (they eat mice and look damned near undead when they get old), but that one can die a slow death by being eaten alive by ants!

2011 the SEC East finished 1, 2, 3 in Omaha and all the final polls.

That was the first time, and will probably be the last time, any conference, much less a division of a conference, finishes 1,2,3.
