How do you rank these 5 going into Hoover?
1. Alabama
2. South Carolina
3. LSU
4. Florida
5. Vanderbilt
Alabama is pretty clearly the #1 team out of this group in almost all the metrics. LSU is light on Q1 but has a ton of Q2 wins and is playing well for the last 6 weeks. Carolina has been bad down the stretch but I think did enough to insulate themselves earlier in the year.
Florida and Vanderbilt are the last 2, I think. Florida's inconsistency and overall record is tough and Vanderbilt.........their resume is just razor thin. If their name was Kentucky I don't think they'd be sitting on most folks right side of the bubble right now.

I would say LSU needs to beat UGA to get a bid and those two games LSU blew against Fla and Bama could be the difference

Ole Miss? I know they're a reach.
Based on resumes, Bama seems like a lock and Lsu is probably in the most dangerous spot.
Well done on the thread, TotD.

I think beating Georgia and Kentucky with Bama eliminating USC and Florida eliminating Vandy could help LSU secure a spot in a regional

Looks about right. I think Tues and Wed in Hoover has a lot more say than in usual years

Ole miss has a losing record and can’t get in unless win SEC tourney
Vandy I believe has lost 4 or 5 of last 6
SC also not players well down the stretch

Huge Reach! They'll probably need to make the finals at a minimum.

Is this true for the regular season or can their record in Hoover get them over .500 to avoid that issue?

I think you just have to be > .500 at the conclusion of the season (which includes conference tournaments).

It's interesting, because normally the baseball tournament is really just to either win the conference or for a team that otherwise isn't getting a bid to try and pull off the championship and make their way in.
This is the first year in a while that it seems that multiple teams could possibly play their way into the NCAA tournament based on how the SEC tournament goes, even without winning the entire thing.

Yes, Vandy has had a tough end to their season, but to be fair, their schedule was super backloaded. Those series losses to end the season were against Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, A&M and Mississippi State. That's three of the top five teams in the country there with another top 10 team and a likely regional host. The last two series of the season they got a game from two of the top three teams in Tennessee and Kentucky.
They just had an easy first half of their SEC schedule, sweeping Missouri and Auburn, whereas a team like LSU just got to play their easier series' later in the season. That's why they're hot right now while Vandy isn't.
Vandy is not playing that well, but they

We will make it
but I hope we don't, and Kingston gets the axe

Could be said that LSU is so young that they didn't have the chance to catch their breath with a front loaded schedule
LSU at least has a series win against a ranked opponent and Vandy has none

Lose to Bama tomorrow and yall are out in my opinion. You'd finish on a 7 game losing streak

Ultimately, when it comes to Vandy vs LSU, they have the same conference record and Vandy won their series in Baton Rouge. Hard to get past that.

I don't care about your opinion but I hope you're right

They all have legit arguments depending on how you break it down. It just depends on what the committee is looking for. Unfortunately, that changes each year.
As others have said, the tournament results may have a big impact. With 2 of those teams guaranteed to be eliminated in the 1st round, it may well be decided on Tuesday, especially if LSU beats UGA.

They really do value teams getting hot at the end of the year (and vice versa) and we'd be 11-5 in our last 16 SEC games, winning 4/5 series including a series win over then #1 A&M and a win over #6 UGA if we win tomorrow.
Our RPI would be in the 20s if we beat UGA, our KPI even better. I'd bet a lot of money we're in with a win over UGA. I think we already sneak in, but a win tomorrow seals it.
