an Ivy league school ( Harvard or Yale, can't remember) is the #1 football program in the country. They have like 28 national titles

True too. We are all pretty clear that A&M, State and Arkansas would be ahead of Mizzou. State most of all.

Huh. Last I looked LSU hasn't been to Atlanta since our arrivial and we've been there twice.

Seriously though ... was with my best friend and his family, including one of my Goddaughters (I have three Goddaughters and had one Godson who passed) ... the entire family Michigan grads, we were at the Outback Bowl right?

So anyways, he's a fricking gazzionaire construction magnate up in the Midwest and a huge donor to Michigan and he and I were burning a one hitter of thin mint, or was it L.A. Confidential, I can't remember for some reason but anyways ... we get into this deep conversation about conferences and he says and I paraphrase, "one of the worst mistakes the B1G made was taking Nebraska into the conference because we destroyed them - they have no natural rivals in our league ... and not going after Kansas, K-State and Mizzou who would have been perfect fits in the B1G."

And he meant it. He, as am I, is a serious man about such things and he meant it ... and I agree.

Let's make the most of what we got though ... okay?

Missouri, kansas and Nebraska would have made perfect sense for the B1G. They swung and missed just plucking Nebraska.

Hindsight and all of that..

Missouri is a true border state though man. You get into one county south of St Louis county and it's as southern as many places in northern Mississipi Tennessee etc. Go one county North of St Louis and we are a better fit for the B1G.

I don't say this often but I'm glad where we ended up. I was born in eastern Tennessee, have a bunch of family there and feel pretty at home here in the SEC.

Us Missouri types will never fit into a cultural steroetype...and that's just fine.

So pathetic how people like the op try so hard to be relevant. Being in the SEC Big 6 is more than individual sports. They are the schools that sit at the big boy table, and make decisions. Mizzou will never have that level of influence.
