LSU has a fine band, but I wouldn't regard them as "shoulders ahead" of the other elite bands in the SEC. The Pride of the Southland, MDB, and the Red Coat band all have great attributes.

Louisiana high school bands are also better than those from Texas or Mississippi. I have no idea why, but it's true in my experience.

Can you really say that considering what Mississippi and Tennessee have contributed to American music?

Tennessee is probably second although in my opinion Nashville destroyed country music

Lighten up dude, quit acting cynical all the time. I was just saying that New Orleans alone has more musical heritage than anywhere in the south.

Sorry bud. I have been cynical of late.

Are you kidding, nobody likes your band , they play one sorry arse song till it makes you want to poke your ears with a sharp pencil.
They line up for a nice T though..

I actually surprisingly kinda agree here. I'm humbled to be part of what many consider to be one of the best, but I've seen most of the other bands perform and I was really impressed with Tennessee's at the 07 SECCG.

Also, one of Auburn's grad assistants was at LSU my sophomore year, and they looked pretty good as well.

Dude, there is New Orleans and then there's the rest of Louisiana. New Orleans is about as much a part of Louisiana as Houston is.

None of the SEC schools send bands to Fayetteville, so we never see a full band.

LSU's pep band is good and loud, though.

Our band is middle of the road, nothing special.

I like the UT band just fine, despite Rocky Top. their marching routines are mesmerizing.

Know little about UF's band and I don't keep us with it anymore but the state of FLA does have some musical heritage - Lynrd Skynyrd (sp), Allman Brothers, Dickie Betts, Molly Hatchet, Tom Petty, and Jim Morrison are all from FL.

I love our band. It is the best I've heard, but I think Bama has a good band. I would pull against Bama if they played the Taliban, but I think a few of the things they do are really cool. As hokey as it is vs. a shitty team, the "We just beat the hell outta you" chant at the end is badass. I love the Golden Band from Tigerland, but I think Bama's band is pretty good.

I think thats characteristic of most major cities. I mean New York City really isnt representative of the state of New York...

TGBFTL is the best - just makes me wonder why some feel it's necessary to use piped-in music - which is the worst.

Its really just an argument of countryside over any metropolitan area. They're all fairly similar.
