Yeah, in my NCAA all-time fapfest, I should have noted Pete Maravich was the most dominant, though I am sure most SEC sports fans already know that. Pretty positive Shaw, Pete, and Bob Pettite are all NBA hall of famers, though shaq and pettite had more pro accolades. Saw an article a few years ago that listed all three in the top-50 all-time greats in basketball.
I was trying to think of an MLB player for the SEC, but only Frank Thomas and Palmeiro come to mind, who aren't even close. The SEC is kind of like the U in regards to baseball history. We just decided we were going to be the best conference around the late 80s and haven't looked back. We even have the coc and hoes

Iverson? Really? I thought this was a serious thread.
Also, its not SEC, but let me list one for Sparty. Magic, best PG in NBA history. IMO. I know Stockton has an argument.

Won't go down as a great, but a SEC baseball legend I always loved was Will Clark.

yeah, in that regard Ben Mcdonald and Todd Walker deserve recognition as far as SEC legends. Aaron Nola would probably be the best in SEC history (at least statistically) if we could pay him to come back next season

So you think Maravich was a more talented player than AI? You think he was better with the ball in his hands? You think he had a better pro career? Pete played back in the disco era, before there was even a 3-point line. Dude wouldn't even make it in the D-League today.

Pete is probably the best (maybe second or third, after Alcindor and/or Walton) college basketball player ever. He did not have an all-time great pro career, but he was very, very, very good. His HOF plaque calls him "perhaps the greatest creative offensive talent in history." John Havlicek called him "the best ball-handler of all-time." BTW, that was after Iverson left the NBA.

You should probably change this to "best athletes at your school in NCAA history", because frankly the sec has a good bit of the NCAA greats, but the PAC 12 comes to mind as fat as Olympians. Oh and Kevin mawae may very well be one of the, if not the, best lineman in NFL history. Plus there is a ton of ambiguity as far as each sport having so many different positions.

I won't argue, as I didn't watch him play. That was JMO. I remember Daddy Dale saying on every possession you could call a foul on Shaq, or the man that guarded him.

Might be the toughest thing in sports to judge. Its the rare position where the less your name is known, the better.
