How about expanding to the top three at each position and then debate with stats? There are a ton of great ones left off single list.

Just to point something important out: the 2010 season would be the last season of the LAST decade, not the 2010's. A decade or century or millennium actually starts at year "1" not year "0".
Cam Newton did not play in this decade, for example.

Yes, that's why the 90s started in 1991. Cam played in this decade.
This is just splitting hairs. You take Joe if you spread it out more, and you take Cam if you run more read option. Both are all timers.

Or Hunter Renfrow. Anyone who plays 7 years should get consideration.

I’m an LSU fan and I say no way Lenard Fournette should be first or second team all decade. Yes he did great against weak teams but he disappeared when it counted the most.

2010 ppg for 30.9 ppg against 23.8
2019 ppg for 29.6 ppg against 21.9
Oh snap

I’d consider stephon Gilmore , he is currently the best corner in the world.

You're giving their filthy defense that year absolutely no credit.

Without that stout, veteran oline Cam wouldn't have been so successful. Do you agree?
One 7th round NFL draft pick (who played for less than two years) on that OL.
ONE.
They were very good at working very well together, but lets not pretend they were anything greater than they were.

Y'all can hate it all you want, but burrows season is better and more consistent than cams.
Come on, face the facts. Cam threw for 2854 yards and 30 TDs with a completion rate of 66%. Auburn didn't depend on the passing game that year. Now throw in the fact that he also rushed for 1473 yards and 20 TDs. Both Burrow and him were responsible for 50 TDs, but most of Cams were not due to a talented WR Corp. Burrow is good, but not in the same conversation with Cam.

See Nick Fairley on list.

no point in going over all of it because the first position of qb you have a guy that had one good year and one SEC title. If you're going with 1 year, Cam Newton would be the choice. If you're going with career, and All Decade would seem to be that, then AJ McCarron produced more 2 national titles. Not sure when Tim Tebow ended his UF career.

No stats to point to that, but go ahead.

stats have changed dramatically since Cam Newton played, and will continue to increase the more our conference becomes like The Big 12

ETA: Since you didn't read the thread, here are the stats:
quote:
Looking only at stats of SEC teams:
2010 average offense 399.1 average defense 350.9
2019 average offense 407.6 average defense 353.9
2010 ppg for 30.9 ppg against 23.8
2019 ppg for 29.6 ppg against 21.9
So yea, that argument doesn't hold water. The yardage differences are negligible, and the 2010 teams actually scored more and allowed less points on average.
