Tennessee is a stepping stone program. The only decent coach you have had in recent memory jumped at the chance to take over a SC program on NCAA sanctions and with a post season ban.

With our facilities we will have first pick of a coach over Tennessee.

Every single person outside the state of Arkansas disagrees with you. Bruce Feldman just said last week that Arkansas is a step below Tennessee. Its not even debatable

Auburn
Tennessee
Arky

Auburn and Tennessee are close but IMO the recruiting advantage that Auburn has gives us the nod.

Tennessee has had more top classes than AU. AU has only outrecruited UT maybe 3 years total since rankings came around. UT is at a good radius of 5 recruiting hotbed states including both Carolinas and Virginia. UT has a bigger fanbase, more history, and better facilities.

IMO Pinkel would have to be on the hot seat if he looses to Kentucky, hell he might be on the hot seat if they beat them as well.

Who has been a better coach at Missouri than Pinkel since the formation of the Big 12?

I think it's:

1. Tennessee - flagship school for the state, resources (money), proven record of success and history (still top 10 in wins) ... recruiting is tough in Tennessee but with a good coach, they are always in the running for great players. Especially on the national level. Dooley has been shitty but he served a purpose and has good athletes.

2. Auburn - great history, recruiting pool is good, loyal fans, tough with Bama in the state, Florida nearby, blah blah. Needs to shake some of the old guard that are trying to hang on.

3. Arkansas - Flagship, not as strong of a recruiting base, strong history but not quite on par with Auburn and Tennessee, but has money and has shown recent success. New facilities, but anyone can get new facilities. That said, they are always pretty competitive with right coach.

4. Kentucky... Needs a good up and comer who doesn't mind being in the shadow of the BBall program.

Yes, but why on earth would Petrino take it now, knowing that better offers will come? Offering now would probably be our only chance at landing him, but if I'm him, I'm not doing it.

The only rational possibility is a more secluded home life if the money was equal with lower expectations.

If he wants to get ripped by the media while winning a national title he will go to Texas which will recruit itself.

If you are Kentucky's AD what angle do suggest they take?

You make it sound like Bobby Petrino is going to get to choose his new job next season. I'm betting that he has crashed himself out of coaching at the major college level. No school, not even Auburn, will hire him.
