This graphic is way off.

Arkansas finished #2 in the AP and UPI in 1964 therefore does not count.

California CLAIMS football national titles but has ZERO nationally recognized titles. 1937 AP went to Pittsburgh.

Florida is correct.

Maryland is correct.

Michigan is correct, but has far less football national titles.

Michigan State is correct but has far less football national titles.

Ohio State is correct but has two less football national titles.

Stanford CLAIMS national titles but doesn’t have any nationally recognized titles, therefore has ZERO. 1940 AP went to Minnesota.

Syracuse is correct.

UCLA is correct.

Better tell the NCAA that:
HERE IS YOUR EDGEUHMUHCATION SOONER

And does it makes sense to have a “champion” (Alabama) get anointed with a LOSS in their bowl game to the very opponent the true champion (Arkansas) beat in the regular season in a head to head (Texas)? And that same Arkansas team WON their bowl game (vs Nebraska) and went undefeated.

Learning, logic and reason can be tough. FWAA got it right.

AP got a LOT of criticism and changed the very next year to vote AFTER the bowl game. If not, regular season one loss #4 Alabama would have NOT won the 1965 AP title because ALL the undefeated teams above them entering the bowl season LOST their bowl game (Arkansas - irony, Michigan State, and Nebraska).

Or you are a Bama alt.

Arkansas were football national champions in 1909, 1964, 1965, 1968 and 1977

Yes. It makes perfect sense. The Champion was decided before the bowl games. The bowl games were considered exhibition games. Sorry you don't like the way they did things back then, but it is what it is.

The only schools who considered bowl games as exhibitions were the losers

Three polls had Kentucky #1 for the 1950 season...the OP didn't say "consensus"...so the UK claim stands.
