Southern Mississippi is (5-35-2) against Alabama = 42 games

LSU has played ULL, Tulane and La Tech multiple times in the last decade...also McNeese State, ULM and Northwestern State...

Hold on. This sentence makes exactly zero sense.

I hated playing Soutern Miss. They were a solid team who always played us close. I did think we owed them one game in Hattiesburg for as many times as they traveled to Alabama

why Hattiesburg is called "The Hub City"
It was nicknamed that bc it is central to many bigger cities:
2 hours from NO
2 hours from BR
1 hr from Jackson
1.5 hr from Mobile
1 hour from the MS GC

I'm not sure where you got that idea. Even in '11 when they went 12-2, they never came close to a sellout for home games.
LINK
This.
Ole Miss played them there when they opened their new stadium and it was a sellout. They didn't sell out another game again for more than 20 years, and that was either Nebraska or Penn St. The USM fans that support them are rabid, there just aren't very many of them that choose to attend.

I know obviously that Ole Miss and Miss St get all the attention in the state, but how much coverage does Southern Miss get?
Not enough.
They are the flagship program of the state.

I always thought it was because you could get some ballin hub caps there.

I know you're trolling but the correct answer is too much if any at all. They're equivalent to UL-Monroe.

Outside of Hattiesburg and the Ms Gulf Coast, little to none.
They are non existent north of Jackson.

They had less than 10K actual attendance their last two home games of 2012

It seems we used to play an instate school every year. I'm not sure why it changed, but we still do every 2-3 years

Big railroad city back in the day with hubs to Mobile, Gulfport, New Orleans, Meridian, Jackson, and Natchez.

Why doesn't Bama, Ole Miss or Miss State ever schedule USM anymore? Even though they went winless last season, they are still overall a solid football program who has very good fan support. Seems to me the Mississippi schools or Alabama would be more interested in playing them than Div 1AA schools
During the Stallins and Dubose years it seems like we had So. Miss on the schedule every freaking year.....it went on for what seemed like an eternity....It was extremely frustrating that Bama wouldn't schedule these old rivalry OOC games with the likes of Penn State. Saban obvioulsy saw the wisdom of scheduling good OOC match-ups....I don't care if ever play So Miss again.....but then again, certain tard Bama fans would rather play them than say Notre Dame in Ireland

Closer to 3. I made the drive to BR for the State game last year. I-59 to Slidell then I-12 to BR about 2:40- 3:00 depending on BR traffic
