Last time I checked they've thrown illegal chop blocks at multiple teams, but I appreciate the peanut gallery chiming in.

lulz

What is a legal chop block?

I've heard of a cut block, but never a legal chop block... Fascinating.

And since you are so up to date on the subject, when was the last 'illegal' chop block thrown? You know, since you're the expert.

I don't think Oregon has anything to worry about. The biggest worry, for everyone, as StewieGriffen said is if Lyles rolls over if he goes down. From the articles, if they're to be believed, he has handled many players to many schools.

oregon has the most to worry about because i doubt they have dirt on most teams so they will end up getting fricked.

sec fans are legit crazy and after recent events punishing them could lead to bad shite happening

Nothing will happen to ut. minor stuff. I am really starting to believe nothing will happen to auburn, unless something was actually uncovered by the ncaa that we don't know yet. Oregon I have no idea.

This^^^^^ and again I also believe the NCAA is in a mode right now that someone is going to pay for all the bad press they have received. I don't think it is one school that needs to worry, but several and yes I think AU will be one of them for the pain the Cecil/Cam loophole caused them....Just a hunch is all and hope I am wrong.

Re: Lyles - another fan called me on the carpet on this point, which I believe to be accurate; Lyle's didn't have a price listed for a national high school tapes/data/scouting package posted prior to the story coming out. He did have a posted price per state of 5K. His highest posted package deal was a national JUCO only package for 15K. Hence the screaming about Oregon paying 25K.

The actual invoice itself was sent to Oregon 3-4 weeks after Seastrunk committed. It listed 2010-11 national high school scouting/tapes/data package for 22 states. The price was 25k. Invoice was paid about a month and a half later.

After Lyles story became widely known the website changed to reflect a price for a national high school package of 25K. Now that is suspicious - makes it look like a coverup after the fact. Other than he claimed to charge 5K per state and Oregon got 22 states for 25K total.

The reason behind the hatred of Lyles by HS coaches in Texas is probably that he's getting Texas kids noticed by other schools who wouldn't ordinarily recruit in Texas. Kids going out of state = anger and resentment. That and him shacking up with a recruit's mom (allegedly) and her telling the HS coach to stay out of her son's recruitment.

I would be very surprised if Chip Kelly did something dirty to recruit. After sending his starting QB packing (Masoli), suspending Blount for almost a season for throwing a punch, kicking off Jamere Holland, Garrett Embry, parting ways with Tyrece Gaines and Diante Jackson (all talented and desperately needed receivers) Kelly just doesn't seem like the type who thinks the rules are less important than success, the right way. And before someone brings up LaMichael James' "domestic violence" conviction, read Oregon's Abuse Prevention Act (Mandatory arrest law) and the sentencing memorandum in LaMichael James' case and tell me he did anything different than you would have done if someone threatened your houseguest and tried to leave with your car keys.

JMO - and based on mostly cynicism

A decent amount of the screaming from Texas folks about agents in Texas revolves around them being upset there are people (other than their high school coaches and good old boys) who point good recruits to major schools

It's my bias that they have had an understood and behind the scenes system to steer their recruits to the Texas schools and they are hopping mad that recruiting services, want to be agents, and handlers are now a part of teh picture

Now do they have a point? IMO Yes. When you have a bunch of uncontrolled agents and handlers floating around that is a recipe for bag men and payouts to quickly follow. The problem is I'm not sure how the NCAA can institute a policy to clean this up - at least a policy that is rational and enforceable

I'm sure no one cares at this point just wanted to clarify.

11*5344= 58784 = 50K+

If LSU paid for players from Lyles, why did they miss out on Trovon Reed and Darron Thomas? Thomas was committed to LSU before decommitting and heading to Oregon. Reed was the #1 recruit in LA most of the year. Seems like he would be a big priority for LSU.

Well, Lyles is obviously not school exclusive. If that's the logic we argue with, why did they miss Seastrunk?

The real question is how does Lyles operate? Is he literally shopping these kids and insinuating to schools he can deliver to the highest bidder? Do schools pay him in advance or only after he delivers a recruit? LSU's payments barely correspond with commitments of certain players, but we all know commitments don't mean shite.

This is easily explained/deflected by saying that he normally charged a set price per state and Oregon wanted more than the usual order. So they worked up a deal of 25k for multiple states. Lyles then realized that wasnt a bad idea for a package and would prolly get him more bulk business than his set 5k per state package so he added it to his website as a regular service package.

Not saying this is anything close to what happened, just showing that if anyone was to question this, it would be easily explained and tossed.

Possibly other agents stepped in and swayed these recruits - I would imagine that the "street agent" buisness is pretty cut throat, wouldn't you?

You got several agents trying to provide information to a school and only a small pool of 4-5* players in the pool. Trovon Reed was Sean Nelson's boy - and ended up at AU. Was Darron Thomas one of Lyles players?
