We will get more into this next week I'm sure but is TX going to have an offensive line that will win the tough yards this year? Feel like they always have tons of talent and start power on the OL, but never get the 2 yards they need against top level DLs.
Seems like an attitude vs talent as they have the talent

Thanks I asked because for some reason ESPN had him ranked as a pass rusher on an article recently I feel like

The run blocking takes a step up this year, but the pass blocking takes a step back. Instead of running an outside zone scheme, they're going to focus on running between the tackles more now that CJ Baxter is back.

He had 8 sacks last year out of the MLB position, that is why.. I expect to see some of this formation on 3rd downs this year..
----------------------Smith/LeFau MLB
OLB Hill -- DE Spence -- DT Burke -- DE Moore -- OLB Simmons
Good luck to the QB trying to figure out who is coming and who isn't.. and this doesn't even account for a DB or 2 that might be coming as well..
Our defense might be better this year imo, and they were really good last year.

OSU with all that NIL money and they can't afford their own forum. Pathetic.

On paper, but Texas may be hungrier than us.
None of that matters if Sark still hasn't figured out how to score in the red zone.

Moore is more of an LB guy now. But he is expected to rush the passer, too.
Brad Spence is another one. He had 5 sacks for Arkansas last year as a situational player.
Hill is outstanding at rushing the passer, even as a LB. They'll line him up all over the field. Not disputing you. Just clarifying.

Or the third quarter.
I do think we'll be fine. Whatever weaknesses this Texas team has, I think they have better answers than OSU coming into the season. We'll see what each team looks like throughout the year and then the end of the season, but for the season opener I like UT's chances.

You're more definitive here than I would be. I don't think we know any of this for sure. I understand why you'd speculate this to be the case, but I'm more wait and see on all of it.

Apparently they've worked with Terry and Jackson in the interior in that package as well.

I can’t imagine a QB walking into a much better position than Sayin is.
Smith and Tate returning at WR, Klare a top catching TE transfer, and the three interior OL coming back seems to be a good recipe to be pretty good

Who knows? We'll have to see.
I'll say this. I like UT's OL against the Ohio State front 7 better than I like Ohio State's OL against the Texas front 7.
I think Texas is going to annihilate Ohio State at the line of scrimmage. I don't know who wins, but I feel like if the Buckeyes win it's because they won despite wearing roller skates along the offensive line.

yeah we're definitely not the only one with question marks. it's going to come down to how well the OL plays. If Arch isn't running for his life I think he can pick them apart. I still don't 100% trust Sark's play calling but it took Mack a long time to win one so if Mack can, why not Sark?
Ready to get this thing going.

Can't be that hard to toss it up to Jeremiah Smith

I don't think anyone is saying OSU isn't going to be very good this year. You will be.
I don't know what to expect in that game. I just know I'm ready to get this season rolling.

OSUs interior OL handled Texas fine last season. The edge play is the unknown but I see no reason why the IOL for OSU won’t play well against the interior DL

Well, first off how about having more snaps under his belt? That's what I'd start with.
Then there's the fact there's a new OC. I understand Hartline has been on staff for a while, and Ryan Day was previously calling plays as the head coach, but Chip Kelly had more credibility running the offense than Hartline will. It's not going to be a new system, but it will be a different chief, with potentially multiple people having a different idea of how to solve things. None of whom have Kelly's expertise. Not even Day.
You have 3 offensive linemen in new roles alongside returning starters Montgomery and Hinzman. You have 2 portal OL at the tackle position, one as the starter, the other as the chief backup. You have two new running backs - talented running backs to be sure, but they'll be hard pressed to match the output of the pair they're replacing.
He's walking into a game against the best edge room OSU will face all year in his opening game, and as good a front 7 as he'll face.
He does have the best wide receiving room in the country, so I'll for sure give him that. And that's a lot.
But there's plenty I'd say would lend itself to a better position than what he's walking into. I look forward to seeing how he handles it.
