The exact number isn't the issue, and Sark is merely using the final cost as a deflection point about his team's NIL. He knows it's up there, and the worst part is it's going to take a lot more going forward. Putting a Lamborghini in every star's garage has got to be concerning, knowing it's never enough.

You paid a lot more than we offered for that Georgia DT you signed. Fact.

You are looking at this all wrong. What you need to do is convince A&M to leave the SEC then UTrans will follow them just like a little brother should.

No matter what he said there people would be throwing shade.
If he says they paid that much everyone blasts him for buying a team. If he makes a joke? Oh he must be throwing players under the bus. Lose Lose for him.
I hate the offseason.

This isn't the first time he's blamed his players, IIRC.

It is a well known fact that everybody else cheated all those years... except for Texas.
Because of course, they didn't have to.
Texas' problem was always that there was way too much to do in Austin... or Austin was too woke... or the players got too many juice boxes...or their pee wasn't the right color.
Stuff like that.

Then I'm confused here. What's the point of the OP?

Not really IMO. It's been said publicly by coaches within the last couple years that a "championship roster" is generally around $15-$20M. Let's assume Sark's roster cost $20M.
You don't think if he could literally double what they'd already spent they might have a better roster?

Bohls writes an article saying
"Texas will have a $40 million roster this year.."
This is not true at the moment.
But from I have read, it sounds like it is in the $25 million range when you account for all of the NIL dollars, including Arch's that is completely funded by national corporations, the way NIL was intended to be used.
So why is Bohls reporting $40 million instead of $25 million?
Simple answer. The house settlement is expected soon, and that will add about $20 million that every school will be paying out. Texas has said that they will allocate about $15 million to football.
The math.
$25 million current ballpark of Texas NIL
$15 million from the house settlement
$40 million = Texas roster in 2025 (if the house settlement is approved)
People are comparing apples and oranges.. There are a lot of schools that will be in that $35-$45 million range once the settlement is approved..

Nice derivation of the, oh so fresh, ‘everyone cheats except my sainted school’. Especially coming from a charter member of the squeaky clean SWC

I don't truly know if we have always paid players or not.. that's above my pay grade.. But you guys talk out of both sides of your mouth.. so which is it?
Texas is better now because of NIL.
which implies that Texas has not always paid players..
or
Texas has always paid players.
which implies that Texas is better now because of something other than NIL..
Both arguments are used all the time.. and both can't be true.

I'll take a wack at it.
Given the quality of players we have been grateful to recruit over the past few years, I can certainly understand why people would believe we spent 40 million on them. But the reality is we don't spend near that much and we have many other things to offer in addition to NIL money to attract talented players.
