Steele did get fired this week.

He handled LBs when he was DC for us before.

But I don't think he liked the amount of work he had to do when he was here. I remember people saying that's why he went to Clemson.

Obviously Saban and UA have no clue how to run things.

Even if he gets fired along with Dooley, this still adds "SEC defensive coordinator" to his resume.

Every year we say Kirby is about to leave, but there's no telling when it's going to happen.

I'm okay with this hire, not a home run, but still good

Who would you suggest? Kevin Steele, Dick Bumpas, Chavis,? The guy has been around great football coaches and knows football.

Dooley walked into a mess in Knoxville. Gary Danielson said out of the five impact players in the SEC on offense at the start of the year, we had three. Hunter, Bray and Rogers. We lost two of the three for most of the season. We couldn't run the ball, we hired Sam Pittman from North Carolina to coach O-line and Jay Graham to coach Runningbacks. We have an offer to Rich Bisaccia of the San Diego Chargers to coach special teams,

We were going to line up and throw it this year with Hunter and Rogers. When Hunter went down, the team went down. We lose 2 starters on offense, 3 on defense. Dooley had a run of bad luck last year. If he doesn't get it done this year, then so be it. But he's getting the coaches in place who CAN recruit and coach it seems. Time will tell.

Yep. It always looks like Smart is leaving, but then Richt manages to not get fired for another year.

Damn I didn't even know he was still there. I thought he hit the road when Kiffin left.

So we've picked up the national recruiter of the year and ACC recruiter of the year in the last tow days. To go along with Jay Graham. Good stuff.

So they can all be on the market again in a year. Congrats.

You win championships and you get paid. Bottom line.

Any chance Kevin Steele returns back to Alabama to coach linebackers?

I am not sure he would be my first choice. He wasn't really recruiting much at Alabama, though he was a "national recruiter of the year" at Florida State. However, his strong suit was suppose to be as a teacher. Lance Thompson is a tremendous recruiter, but average teacher. Other names are Tyrone Nix, Geoff Collins, and James Willis. I don't think any of which have the combination of recruiting and teaching ability of Coach Sunseri.

Bad move IMO. UT isn't a good place to go right now especially if they fire Dooley next season Sunseri probably won't keep his job.

I would guess it's D. He probably wants to be a DC without having to wait on Kirby Smart to get a job.

It's C and D IMO.

"The chance to work with Derek Dooley, who has been around championships and knows what it takes to build an elite program, combined with the rich tradition of the University of Tennessee, makes this opportunity so exciting to me," Sunseri said in a statement. "I am fired up to work with all of the young talent on the defensive side of the ball, and I can't wait to get up to Knoxville and coach them."
